Washington Poe, Book 1
Synopsis: A serial killer is burning people alive in the Lake District’s prehistoric stone circles. He leaves no clues and the police are helpless.
When his name is found carved into the charred remains of the third victim, disgraced detective Washington Poe is brought back from suspension and into an investigation he wants no part of.
Reluctantly partnered with the brilliant but socially awkward civilian analyst, Tilly Bradshaw, the mismatched pair uncover a trail that only he is meant to see. The elusive killer has a plan and for some reason Poe is part of it.
As the body count rises, Poe discovers he has far more invested in the case than he could have possibly imagined. And in a shocking finale that will shatter everything he’s ever believed about himself, Poe will learn that there are things far worse than being burned alive…
Review: I wasn’t familiar with the author or the series, but after seeing the nice reviews on Goodreads, I was curious about this first volume.
Poe Washington has been laid off after a major screw-up, but the latest case links him to the murders that are being committed. Indeed, some bodies are burned alive and one of the dead is found on one of the bodies. Reinstated, he will team up with Stephanie Flynn, his new boss, and Tilly Bradshaw, a young woman with a huge IQ and a hard time adapting to society. Our little team will do everything they can to find out the truth and to do so, they will have to investigate a story that is many years old.
I loved this novel. The novel is fast paced and I had a great time with the characters. The story is pretty gruesome, but also probable and the investigation kept me on my toes throughout the book. And even at the very end of the book, just when you think you have it all figured out, the author gives us some great revelations!
I can’t wait to read the sequel!

yes I enjoy books about serial killers too. There is something about reading them or at least the investigation and closure.

It does sound gruesome, but I like the way you describe it so maybe I’ll give it a try. 🙂

I never really see you review horror/thriller, so when I see a good review from you on this genre, I pay attention! This sounds good!
