Royal Houses, Book 1

Synopsis: Ten years ago, half-Fae, half human Kerrigan Argon was discreetly dropped off onto the steps of Draco Mountain with nothing but a note. Her life changes completely as she’s swept into the care of the House of Dragons—an elite training program for gifted Fae.

On the year of her seventeenth name day, each student will be chosen by one of the twelve tribes of Alandria to enter society.

Everyone is chosen, except Kerrigan.

So, she strikes a bargain with the Dragon Society: convince a tribe to select her or give up her birthright forever.

With the unlikeliest of allies—Fordham Ollivier, the cursed Fae prince, who escaped his dark throne—she has to chart her own destiny to reshape the world.

Review: I didn’t know this novel, but I had seen that some of the author’s paranormal romances had been translated into French, even though I haven’t read any of them.

Kerrigan has lived in the Dragon Society since she was abandoned when she was younger. It hasn’t been easy and she gets her kicks by fighting in the underground, a place on the fringe of society. But this year, Kerrigan’s life is going to change: she will be chosen by a Tribe that she will join to finally have a life of her own. However, nothing is going to happen as planned and it starts with the arrival of Fordham Ollivier, a member of the House of Shadows who is not afraid of anything and who is going to question the whole functioning of the Society.

This was a fairly dense first volume, but I had a good time. Kerrigan’s life is really not simple and her choices will have big consequences on what happens next. I am curious to discover what will happen next. Fordham and Kerrigan are two touching and different characters, and I’m sure they will help each other as they get along.

I wouldn’t have thought there was much too the story and yet it would appear that there is more to it than the cover {which I love} suggests. Definitely a book/series I’ll be keeping a look out for, thanks for sharing your thoughts.
