Review: Ah this novel… there is a lot to say about it. When I started reading it and when I saw the turn of the history, I admit that I was not sure to continue it. I was uncomfortable, and it’s true that I could hardly see how it would turn out but I’ll talk about that again later. In fact, this novel is the third book in a series that can be read independently. No, there really is no problem to start with any of these novels. But while the first two were giving the same kind of stories with a good light plot, this one tackles very sensitive issues. Yes it is finally a very dark novel, something to which I was not expecting. Have you seen this cover? The story doesn’t match it at all.

Although the summary gives us an idea of the novel, I admit that we can not really expect such a story. I’m not saying it’s not good, not at all! It took me a long time at the end of the story to know how to rate this third volume. You know, everything is fabulously well done and the story is very interesting, but everything is very difficult to read as well. We follow a young girl from the age of 9 years old. This is a little girl who was sold by her father in many ways, whether her body, or even her witch capabilities. She lives like that until a vampire, Asher, enters her life. I think that as this little girl has not really had a real childhood, everything became blurred in regard of her feelings. The summary talks about a father-daughter relationship between them that evolves during the story … I have to say there is no real relationship as it’s said initially. No, from the beginning we feel a little unhealthy relationship between them that is increasing along the chapters. There can be no real actions, but it does not change the state of mind of the girl who at 11 years has consistently succumbed to the charms of the vampire. Everything is very destabilizing I must say. I think it would have been better if the character was older but here it’s really too much. It may be personal, but it was quite difficult, I couldn’t understand that a girl of that age could have such thoughts. It was also hard to see that a man so old, a vampire, did not try to limit it all quickly and frankly.

We follow the story of a passionate and toxic love that begins very early in the life of a young girl who is willing to do anything for the man she loves. She wants to give him everything, her body, her soul, her spirit. He is also her life and her whole existence from the beginning. She would never have thought of leaving him, besides she is even willing to do anything for him. Yet whatever she thinks, life is not always what it is and our young Anna will have to face reality. Yes, because although she has given everything to this man, he could not return the favor. But wanting to leave does not mean that she can really do that, because he would never let slip her innocence and intense love.

So no it is not an easy story. Very delicate themes are used here, pedophilia, rape, drugs, toxic love. Although we feel that the whole is very unhealthy, we struggled to put the book down. We try to understand Anna, we wish her to understand the reality and we see her evolve, we see her realize what she has become. It was fascinating to see the young woman she became despite all that, to see the life she was able to create and we realize that she is willing to do anything to protect that. The ending is also very touching and I also admit that I did not really expect that.

It’s a tough story, difficult, sad, passionate. This is not something easy to read, but it’s something very interesting nonetheless. A story that is not expected at all.

Avis : Ah ce roman… il y a beaucoup de choses à dire. Quand j’ai commencé la lecture  et quand j’ai vu la tournure de l’histoire, j’avoue que je n’étais pas sûre de continuer. J’étais mal à l’aise, et c’est vrai que j’avais du mal à voir comment le tout allait tourner mais je vais en reparler. En fait, ce roman est le troisième tome d’une série qui peut se lire séparément. Non, il n’y a vraiment pas de soucis à commencer avec n’importe lequel de ces romans. Mais alors que les deux premiers donnaient des histoires même si avec une bonne intrigue, des histoires finalement assez légères, celui-ci aborde des sujets très délicats. Oui c’est un roman très noir finalement, quelque chose à laquelle je ne m’attendais pas. Vous avez vu cette couverture ? L’histoire n’y correspond pas du tout.

Même si le résumé donne un peu le ton du roman, j’avoue qu’on ne peut vraiment pas s’attendre à un tel récit. Je ne dis pas que ce n’est pas bien, détrompez-vous ! J’ai mis longtemps à la fin de l’histoire à savoir comment noter ce troisième volume. Vous savez, le tout est fabuleusement bien fait, l’histoire est très intéressante mais le tout est très difficile. Nous suivons une jeune fille dès l’âge de 9 ans. C’est une petite fille qui était vendue par son père par de nombreuses manières, que ce soit son corps, ou même ses capacités de sorcière. C’est en tout cas le cas jusqu’à ce qu’un vampire, Asher entre dans sa vie. Je pense que du fait que cette petite fille n’ait pas vraiment eu une enfance réelle, tout est devenu assez flou au niveau des sentiments. Le résumé parle d’une relation père-fille entre eux qui évolue au cours de l’histoire… Je dois dire qu’il n’y a pas vraiment de relation telle que celle-ci initialement. Non, dès le début on sent une relation un peu malsaine entre eux qui ne fait qu’augmenter. Il n’y a peut-être pas de réels actes, mais cela ne change pas l’état d’esprit de la jeune fille qui à partir de 11 ans n’a de cesse que de faire succomber le vampire à ses charmes. Le tout est très déstabilisant je dois dire. Je pense que ça aurait un peu mieux passé si le personnage était plus âgé mais ici c’est vraiment trop. C’est peut-être personnel mais c’était assez difficile, ne serait-ce que comprendre qu’une jeune fille de cet âge puisse avoir de telles pensées. C’était aussi difficile de voir qu’un homme aussi vieux, un vampire, n’essaie pas de cadrer tout ça plus rapidement et franchement.

On suit donc l’histoire d’un amour passionné et toxique qui commence très tôt dans la vie d’une jeune fille qui est prête à tout pour celui qu’elle aime. Elle désire tout lui donner, son corps, son âme, son esprit. Il est d’ailleurs sa vie et son existence toute entière depuis le début. Jamais elle n’aurait pensé pouvoir le quitter, d’ailleurs elle est même prête à tout pour lui. Pourtant quoi qu’elle pense, la vie n’est pas toujours ce qu’elle est et notre jeune Anna va devoir faire face à la réalité. Oui car même si elle a tout donné à cet homme, il ne pouvait pas vraiment lui rendre la pareille. Mais vouloir partir ne signifie pas qu’elle le puisse vraiment, car jamais il ne laissera échapper son innocence et cet amour si intense.

Donc non ce n’est pas une histoire facile. Des thèmes très délicats sont utilisés ici, la pédophilie, le viol, les drogues, l’amour toxique. Même si on sent que le tout est très malsain, nous avons du mal à poser le livre. On essaie de comprendre Anna, de lui souhaiter de comprendre la réalité et on la voit évoluer, on la voit réaliser ce qu’elle est devenue. C’était fascinant de voir la jeune femme qu’elle devient, de voir la vie qu’elle a réussi à se créer et de réaliser qu’elle est prête à tout pour protéger ça. La fin est d’ailleurs aussi très touchante et j’avoue que je ne m’y attendais pas vraiment.

C’est une histoire dure, difficile, triste, passionnée. Ce n’est pas quelque chose de facile à lire mais c’est quelque chose de très intéressant quand même. Une histoire à laquelle on ne s’attend pas du tout.

Finding herself on the run, Vivian drives across America with the enigmatic Jason and learns about the werewolf war her father’s pack is caught in. Now that an opposing pack has targeted her, Jason will stop at nothing to make sure Vivian’s song isn’t cut short.

Review: I really liked the first novel, so I was curious to find out what the author has in store for us for this new volume. I admit that I did not pay attention to the synopsis, and it’s true that I was surprised not to find the following adventures of Mona at the beginning of the novel. But while I realized that we would follow Vivien this time, I was also surprised to see that the environment was also very different from the first one. You then imagine that I wondered for a long time how the two novels were connected, but it is ultimately something that we understand in the second part of the story. And yes! We also see Mona and even Adam, even if it’s not a lot.

Vivian is a young singer who is jaded by life. Moreover, she doesn’t have any pleasure anymore when she sings even if it is her whole life. But one day, here she is, followed by a strange man who saves her from a marshal when he tried to kidnap her. So now all of a sudden, her world is turned upside down. Her father, she does not know about, and who abandoned her a long time ago, is a werewolf, the alpha of his pack and he sent his beta Jason to help and bring her back to him, while he is in the midst of war. That the young woman is surprised is an understatement, and it will take some time for her to accept this truth and adapt, yet this does not change her feelings toward her father. But while they both go into the territory of the alpha, our two heroes will discover each other. And as Vivian knows that he is attracted to her, she is determined to have a good time with him. The problem is that the young man did not seem at all to agree! But throughout this journey she gets to know Jason and her father and although she struggled to cope with her ​​feelings, she discover a new family.

I loved Vivian, she is a young woman with a fiery temperament who is thrust into a world she never suspected to exist. Yet, despite this change, she will keep her stubbornness and does not hesitate to be strong when she needs to be (and I must say it is often required). And it was pretty funny to see her face Jason. He is the opposite of the young woman: musty, not very talkative and especially mysterious. For once the two do not fall madly in love with each other at first glance and at the same time I struggled to understand why Jason fled her that much especially when we see their attraction for each other. We understand the reason at the very end of the story but it is true that it does not prevent me to remain a little dubious over such a refusal. It was also nice to see Mona and Adam and even though it was very short, it was a real pleasure and I hope we will have the opportunity to see a little more next time.

A new good novel we can read fairly quickly and I am curious to try the next installment.

Mais quand elle est enlevée lors d’un concert, Vivian est surprise de voir son harceleur devenir son sauveur. Jason est son sauveur loup-garou, envoyé par son père biologique qui l’a abandonnée étant bébé. Se retrouvant à fuir, Vivian conduit à travers l’Amérique avec l’énigmatique Jason et en apprend plus sur la guerre des loups-garous de la meute de son père. Maintenant qu’une meute adverse l’a ciblée, Jason ne reculera devant rien pour s’assurer que la chanson de Vivian ne soit pas coupée courte.

Avis : J’avais beaucoup aimé le premier roman, aussi j’étais curieuse de découvrir ce que l’auteure nous réservait pour ce nouvel opus. J’avoue ne pas avoir fait attention au résumé, du coup c’est vrai que j’ai été surprise de ne pas retrouver la suite des aventures de Mona au début du roman. Mais quand j’ai compris que nous suivions cette fois-ci Vivien, j’ai été aussi surprise de voir que l’environnement était aussi très différent. Vous vous doutez alors que je me suis demandée pendant un long moment, comment les deux romans se regroupaient, mais c’est finalement quelque chose que l’on comprend en seconde partie d’histoire. Et oui ! On retrouve Mona et même Adam, même si on ne les voit que peu.

Vivian est une jeune chanteuse qui est blasée par la vie. D’ailleurs, elle ne prend plus aucun plaisir à chanter alors que c’était pourtant toute sa vie. Mais un jour, la voilà suivie par un homme assez étrange qui la sauve quand un marshal essaie de l’enlever. Et voilà alors que tout à coup, son monde est complètement bouleversé. Son père, qu’elle ne connait pas et qui l’a abandonné est un loup-garou, alpha de sa meute et il a envoyé son béta Jason, pour la ramener et qu’aucun mal le lui soit fait, alors qu’ils sont en pleine guerre. Dire que la jeune femme est surprise serait peu dire, et il lui faudra un peu de temps pour accepter cette vérité et s’adapter, pourtant cela ne changera pas ses sentiments envers son père. Mais alors qu’ils se rendent tous les deux dans le territoire de l’alpha, nos deux héros vont se découvrir et alors que Vivian sait qu’il est attiré par elle, elle est bien décidée à passer un bon moment avec lui. Le problème est que le jeune homme ne semble pas du tout du même avis ! Mais au fil de son voyage elle apprendra à connaître Jason et son père et bien qu’elle ait du mal à faire face à ses sentiments, elle se découvrira une nouvelle famille.

J’ai beaucoup aimé Vivian, c’est une jeune femme au tempérament de feu qui se retrouve propulsée dans un monde qu’elle ne soupçonnait pas. Pourtant, malgré ce changement, elle va garder sa forte tête et n’hésitera pas à être forte quand besoin en est (et il faut dire qu’elle en a souvent besoin). Et c’était assez drôle de la voir affronter Jason. Il est tout à l’opposé de la jeune femme : renfermé, peu bavard et surtout mystérieux. Pour une fois les deux ne tombent pas fous amoureux l’un de l’autre et en même temps j’ai eu du mal à comprendre pourquoi Jason la fuyait autant surtout quand on voit leur attirance l’un pour l’autre. On en comprend la raison en toute fin d’histoire mais c’est vrai que ça ne m’empêche pas de rester un peu dubitative par rapport à un tel refus. C’était aussi agréable de voir Mona et Adam et même si c’était très court, c’était un vrai plaisir et j’espère qu’on aura l’occasion de les revoir un peu plus encore.

Un nouveau bon roman qui se lit de façon assez rapide et je suis curieuse de lire le prochain opus que l’auteure sortira.
