Review: I was curious about this series especially with the release of the first book in French. And it is true that several years ago someone had recommended me the series, but I finally never got into it. It was then the opportunity to discover how it really was. So of course I start with book 9 so I think I missed a lot of events, but I managed to follow the story well in the end.

Lily is a young woman full of doubts at the beginning of the book. She asks herself a lot of questions about the people she killed, although she did not really have a choice and it was the right thing to do. I must say that she expected to do that as an agent of the FBI, but she fears that it could become banal. Besides, while being the mate of an important Lupi, she is constantly followed by bodyguards, something which is especially disturbing, although she understands why. Rule, her soul mate is a very intriguing character. He is quite secret, keeps his feelings for himself most of the time and perfectly knows how to control himself. This is something that is quite difficult for Lily but she understands the need to stay in control of events and leaves him the space he needs. I loved seeing them both together, gradually discovering and realizing that each one is trying to protect the other as best as they can, although the result is not what they expect. They will thus team up to find a stolen device within their clan, an object that seems to give some people hallucinations. But this is not everything and this invention has more power than it seems. I was really curious to know who was the culprit. I must say that we witness a hunt through the pack to determine who was truly guilty. But then, the thief calls announcing that the object was stolen from him and he needs help. This is already a really weird thing to do, but what is even more is the identity of this person as we can not predict it in any cases. The story is far much larger than I would have thought at the start and I loved to meet so many creatures.

I quite enjoyed the book although I had the impression of being a little back from the story itself. But it may be because I have not started it from the beginning. However, I found the ideas of Eileen Wilks really interesting. The mode of operation of lupi is quite interesting and it is true that I would love to learn more about it. I also wonder what happened during the other volumes. I’ll have to try the other to know that. This is an intriguing discovery.

Dans leur course pour récupérer leurs biens manquants, ils trouvent des empreintes de Robert Friars un peu partout. Robert Friar – tueur, fou, et acolyte de l’Ancienlupi contre qui ils sont en guerre – Un ancien dont la puissance estpresque aussi vaste que son ambition à chambouler le monde entier. . .



Avis : J’étais assez curieuse par cette série surtout avec la sortie du premier tome en Français. Et puis c’est vrai qu’il y a plusieurs années une personne m’avait recommandé la série mais je ne m’y étais finalement jamais mise. C’était alors l’occasion de découvrir ce qu’il en était vraiment. Alors bien sûr je commence avec le tome 9 alors je pense que j’ai raté pas mal d’événements, mais je pense que j’ai réussi à bien suivre l’histoire au final.
Lily est une jeune femme pleine de doutes au début du livre. Elle se pose énormément de questions sur les gens qu’elle a tués, bien qu’elle n’ait pas vraiment eu le choix ou qu’elle ait eu raison à chaque fois. Il faut dire qu’elle s’y attendait en tant qu’agent du FBI, mais la peur que tout devienne banal est toujours là. De plus en tant que compagne d’un des grand Lupi, elle est sans cesse suivie par des gardes du corps, chose qui la dérange particulièrement, bien qu’elle comprenne la raison. Rule son âme sœur est un personnage très intriguant. Il est assez secret, garde ses sentiments pour lui la plupart du temps mais sait parfaitement se maîtriser. C’est quelque chose qui est assez difficile pour Lily mais elle comprend ce besoin de rester maître des événements et lui laisse l’espace dont il a besoin. J’ai beaucoup aimé les voir tous les deux ensemble, les découvrant petit à petit et comprenant que chacun d’eux essaie de protéger l’autre du mieux qu’il peut, bien que le résultat ne soit jamais ce qui est escompté. Ils vont ainsi faire équipe tous les deux pour retrouver un appareil volé au sein de leur clan, un objet qui semble pouvoir donner des hallucinations à certaines personnes. Mais ce n’est pas tout et cette invention a bien plus de pouvoirs qu’il n’y parait. J’étais vraiment curieuse de savoir qui était le coupable de ce forfait. Il faut dire qu’on assiste à une chasse à travers la meute pour déterminer qui était véritablement le coupable. Mais quand ce dernier appelle, annonçant que l’objet lui a été volé et qu’il a besoin d’aide. C’est déjà un fait des plus étonnants, mais ce qui l’est encore plus c’est l’identité de ce voleur que l’on ne peut prévoir en aucun cas. L’histoire est partie beaucoup plus loin que ce que je ne l’aurais pensé au départ et j’ai beaucoup aimé croiser de nombreuses créatures de la sorte.
J’ai assez apprécié le roman bien que j’ai eu l’impression d’être un peu en retrait par rapport à l’histoire en elle-même. Mais c’est peut-être dû au fait que je n’ai pas commencé par le début. Par contre, j’ai trouvé les idées d’Eileen Wilks vraiment intéressantes. Le mode de fonctionnement des lupi est assez intéressant et c’est vrai que j’aimerais beaucoup en apprendre plus par rapport à cela. Je me demande aussi comment se déroule les autres tomes, il faudra vraiment que je tente le 1er pour voir ce que cela donne. C’est donc une intrigante découverte.

Review: I heard a lot about Erica Hayes and even if I didn’t start with the series I thought, I’m glad I had the opportunity to read this one. I must say that I was completely surprised by this first volume, I was much more excited than I would have thought by reading the summary.

Morgan is a doctor working in a morgue. She is obsessed with the new disease ravaging her city. Indeed, zombies appear increasingly, killing many people every day and our young heroine is determined to find a cure. Although everyone thinks it’s one of the seven predictions of the end of the world, she is determined to prove them wrong. God has no place here and science is something that is much more important for her. And yet, some signs are difficult to understand, as the transformation of water into human blood. But her life is turned upside when Luniel appears in her morgue, trying to understand what happened to his brother. He does not hesitate to reveal to our dear Morgan his angel’s condition. A quite strong attraction appears between our two heroes, but they resist both for their own reasons. A new world opens itself to our doctor; it will be very difficult for her to accept what she has so long denied. I must say that she has been through a lot and it’s hard for her to trust Luniel. They are a very good team together; it was pretty funny to watch their arguments and researches. It must be said that there are many things to speak about when you have a man who has faith and a young woman who believes in nothing. Many arguments or persuasions. We will read little by little the story to discover their past and all the characters around them. I also found very interesting the different POVs of the characters throughout the novel, it allows us to get an idea of ​​each of them. It intrigues us for the novels to come.

I haven’t read a lot of books about angels and I was immediately intrigued by the ideas of Erica Hayes. The end of the world, zombies, demons and warriors: a very nice mix. We immediately want to understand who is behind the end of the world and especially the reason. And yes! It is much more complicated than expected! Many paths are open for the other characters and I must say it is really intriguing. It was a good idea because we are now eager to find out more. This is a nice discovery and I’m curious to read more about each of our characters.

Avis : J’avais beaucoup entendu parler d’Erica Hayes et même si je ne pensais pas commencer par cette série là, je suis contente d’avoir eu l’occasion de la lire. Je dois dire que j’ai été complètement surprise par ce premier tome, j’ai été beaucoup plus emballée que je ne l’aurais pensé en lisant le résumé.
 
Morgan est un docteur travaillant dans une morgue. Elle est obsédée par la nouvelle maladie qui ravage sa ville. En effet, des zombies apparaissent de plus en plus, tuant de nombreuses personnes chaque jour et notre jeune héroïne est déterminée à trouver un remède. Bien que tout le monde annonce ce phénomène comme une des sept prédictions de la fin du monde, elle est bien décidée à leur prouver qu’ils ont tort. Dieu n’a pas de place ici et sa science est quelque chose qui l’importe beaucoup plus. Et pourtant, certains signes sont difficiles à comprendre, comme la transformation de l’eau en sang humain. Mais toute sa vie va être bouleversée quand Luniel apparaît dans sa morgue, essayant de comprendre ce qui est arrivé à son frère. Il n’hésite pas à divulguer à notre chère Morgan sa condition d’ange. Une forte attraction apparaît assez vitre entre nos deux héros, mais ils résistent tous deux pour leurs propres raisons. Un nouveau monde s’ouvre à notre docteur, il va être très difficile pour elle d’accepter tout ce qu’elle a si longtemps renié. Il faut dire qu’elle a dû passer par de nombreuses épreuves et elle a du mal à faire confiance à Luniel. Ils font vraiment tous les deux une très bonne équipe, il était assez drôle d’assister à leurs joutes verbales et leurs recherches. Il faut dire qu’il y a matière à parler quand on a un homme qui a la foi et une jeune femme qui ne croit en rien. De nombreuses disputes ou persuasions en perspective. On prendra connaissance petit à petit de leur passé et nous découvrirons tous les personnages qui les entourent. J’ai trouvé d’ailleurs très intéressant le changement de personnages tout au long du roman, cela nous permet d’avoir une idée sur chacun et ainsi de nous intriguer pour les romans à venir. 
 
Je ne lis pas énormément de livres sur les anges et j’ai tout de suite été intriguée par les idées d’Erica Hayes. La fin du monde, des zombies, des démons et des guerriers : Un très joli mélange. On a très vite envie de comprendre qui se cache derrière cette fin du monde et surtout la raison. Et oui ! C’est bien plus compliqué que prévu ! De nombreuses pistes sont ouvertes par rapport aux autres personnages et je dois dire que c’est intriguant. C’était une bonne idée car nous sommes maintenant impatients d’en découvrir plus. C’est donc une jolie découverte et je suis curieuse de pouvoir en lire plus au sujet de chacun de nos personnages.

Or as normal as it can be where the Devil’s spawn is concerned. With any luck, she might just be able to resuscitate her love life while she’s at it.


Review: And voila! I’ve finished the new Patricia Eimer’s novel in two short days . I was really curious to see how the relationship would continue to evolve and how the two marriages would eventually happen. But as Faith upset me!! She made some really terrible choices, I wanted to shake her throughout the novel so she could realize the mistake she made! Faith aaaah! Why? Why???? What were you thinking???? Okay I’ll stop there because I am ready to reveal the wrong choices of our heroine. That would be annoying for you to know everything. 

Faith lives the perfect love with Matt although she is still restricted compared to her feelings and her ancient history with Dan. While our dear angel wants to get their relationship to the next level, our little demon is afraid of commitment and refuses to do anything. And when someone asks her about marriage, she becomes crazy. But that’s not all, now that she has a boyfriend whom she must think about, some new problems appear. Brenda, the former Matt’s fiancée finds herself on their doorstep, asking for help after escaping her family and is determined to get what she wants. That is to say, Matt, and that by all means, whatever Faith decides. The youngest daughter of the devil must now deal with a crazy angel but in addition to this, Dan is back and despite his lack of memory, he also seems determined to conquer Faith. This is still enough things to manage, but when the angelic Matt’s family appears in the picture, everything is complicated and totally disrupts the life of our heroine.
I was quite sorry for Faith in this novel, she has a lot of things to deal with at the same time and does not know how to handle everything. However, she tries to keep her composure and do what is best in all cases. But she has so little confidence in herself and when it comes to love she always eventually ruin her chances. It’s so sad and heartbreaking to see her like that, to know she only makes things worse. She will finally understand that she really wants to Matt but this revelation will make her understand that there is more than that. I was really disappointed with her final decision and I’m curious to see what will happen in the third book. I was really happy to finally meet Dan. We heard so much about him in the first novel and I was curious to understand how Faith could have fallen in love with him. Well I must say that I understood! Oh yes, this man is adorable and caring. But well, between him and Matt, there is no other choice, Matt always wins! Finally we will meet some new characters (oh yeah, and some others that I really wanted to meet) and the return of all those we met in the first, including Jesus and God.
 
It was still a good volume though I disagree with Faith. A new pleasure and I look forward to reading more, especially with the new tracks that are opened here. This series is light, funny and completely crazy. Feel free to try!

Maintenant Faith ne reculera devant rien pour stopper toute cette folie et s’assurer que les noces se déroulent sans accroc. Tout ce qu’elle a à faire c’est de sauver un futur marié et contrer une armée de soi-disant bien-pensants, et tout reviendra à la normale. Ou aussi normal que cela puisse être quand les enfants du Diable sont concernés. Avec un peu de chance, elle pourrait bien être en mesure de ressusciter sa vie amoureuse tant qu’elle y est.

 Avis : Et voilà ! Ca y est j’ai pu finir en deux petits jours ce nouveau roman de Patricia Eimer. J’étais vraiment curieuse de voir comment les relations allaient continuer à évoluer et comment les deux mariages allaient finalement se passer. Mais comme Faith m’a énervé !!!! Elle fait des choix vraiment terribles, on a envie de la secouer tout au long du roman pour qu’elle se rende compte de la bêtise qu’elle fait ! AAAAh Faith !!! Pourquoi ? Pourquoi ????? Quelle idée t’est-il passé par la tête ???? Bon d’accord je vais m’arrêter là parce que je suis déjà prête à vous dévoiler les mauvais choix de notre héroïne. Ça serait embêtant vu que c’est la fin du livre.

Faith file le parfait amour avec Matt bien qu’elle soit toujours réservée par rapport à ses sentiments et son ancienne histoire avec Dan. Alors que notre cher ange veut faire passer leur relation au stade supérieur, notre petite démone a peur de l’engagement et refuse de faire quoi que ce soit. Et quand on lui parle de mariage, elle devient complètement folle. Mais ce n’est pas tout, maintenant qu’elle a un petit-ami auquel elle doit penser, de nouveaux problèmes se profilent à l’horizon et pas des moindres. Brenda l’ex-fiancée de Matt se retrouve sur le pas de leur porte, demandant de l’aide après avoir échappé à sa famille et est bien décidée à obtenir ce qu’elle veut. C’est-à-dire Matt, et cela par tous les moyens, quoi que Faith décide. La plus jeune fille du diable doit donc à présent s’occuper d’une ange complètement folle mais en plus de cela, Dan est de retour et malgré son absence de souvenir, il semble lui aussi bien décidé à conquérir Faith. Vous me direz que c’est encore assez de choses à gérer mais quand la famille angélique de Matt apparaît dans le tableau, tout se complique et bouleverse totalement la vie de notre héroïne.

  
J’étais assez désolée pour Faith dans ce roman, elle a énormément de choses qui lui tombent dessus en même temps et ne sait pas trop comment gérer tout ce qu’il se passe. Elle essaie cependant de garder son sang-froid et de faire ce qui est le mieux dans le meilleur des cas. Mais elle a tellement peu confiance en elle quand il s’agit d’amour qu’elle ruine finalement toujours ses chances. C’est si triste et désolant de la voir comme ça, de réaliser qu’elle ne fait qu’empirer les choses. Elle va enfin réaliser qu’elle tient réellement à Matt mais cette révélation lui fera comprendre qu’il y a plus que ça. Sa décision finale m’a vraiment déçue et je suis curieuse de voir ce qu’il adviendra dans le troisième tome. J’étais vraiment très contente de pouvoir enfin découvrir Dan. On parle tellement de lui dans le premier roman que j’étais curieuse de pouvoir comprendre comment Faith avait pu tomber amoureuse de lui. Eh bien je dois dire que j’ai compris ! Oh oui, cet homme est adorable et à l’écoute des autres. Mais bon entre lui et Matt, il n’y a pas photo, Matt gagne toujours ! Enfin vous l’aurez compris pleins de nouveaux personnages (oh oui et certains autres que j’avais vraiment envie de rencontrer) et le retour de tous ceux que nous avons rencontré dans le premier, notamment Jésus et Dieu. 

C’était encore un bon tome bien que je sois en total désaccord avec Faith. Un nouveau grand plaisir et j’ai hâte d’en lire plus, surtout avec les nouvelles pistes qui s’ouvrent ici. Cette série est légère, drôle et complètement déjantée. N’hésitez pas à la tenter !
 

Luck of the Devil by Patricia Eimer

The days of teenage rebellion and vows of chastity made just to tick off her father are over, and now all Faith Bettincourt wants is a nice, quiet life. Unfortunately, thanks to the unexpected arrival of her demonically-downsized sister, a ditzy succubus roommate, and dear old Dad himself, Faith’s plans for a relaxing vacation spent watching reruns go up in flames.
Now it’s all Faith can do to keep the family reunion from Hell (literally) under wraps, and the angellically-inclined hottie across the hall from realizing there’s something weird about his neighbor. And, thankfully, it’s working. Until an angelic stalker shows up in a bid to steal her powers and take over the world.
Forget watching reruns. With the way things are going, Faith will need the luck of the Devil just to survive until Monday.

Review: With the release of the second book, I thought it was finally time to read this first novel. I won it a long time ago on a blog but I never got into it as I always had something else to read. What a mistake! I was completely swept away by the story and the writing style of Patricia Eimer.

Faith tries hier best to live a normal life, but it’s difficult when you have a family as unusual as hers. Yes, because she is the youngest daughter of Satan. But she lives far away from them in an apartment in Pittsburg, and even worked as a nurse in a hospital, something she loves to do. She is supposed to be evil, but irritating her father is always a good opportunity, so she does what she wants without any real consequences. We also discover her roommate Lisa become succubus recently transformed by Tolliver, another son of the devil. This new state is very complicated for her, especially when she needs to feed on men. She has never learned to control her powers and ends without realizing it by killing Harold, the department head of the Faith hospital and turned him into a ghost. The life of our heroine continues like that without really hooks until her family decides to visit her during her only one week of relaxation she was granted. You can imagine that having her father, her mother, her sister Hope and her husband with her brother at home, will completely mess up her day. Each child has something to hide, trying not to be noticed by their father, but he is much more insightful than expected. Hope is in a deep depression following her separation with her husband, a demon who fell in religion. In addition, Tolliver is determined to make succumb Lisa to his charm; Satan wants to reconnect with his children and his wife. Besides talking about his wife, she is very very special! Roisin has very original ideas and is completely crazy. We always wonder how she found some of her deductions, such as her husband Satan, even if he is several millennia old, is not immortal. Yes, because she is convinced of that! Added to these characters, we also meet Matt, the charming neighbor Faith likes. His character is really interesting and I was intrigued by him from the beginning of the book. I must say he has a lot to teach us! I confess that I never expected to cross Jesus, God and other characters. Jesus is really different from what we might imagine, but it was nice to have the chance to find him like that. But that’s not all, our beloved Faith finds herself with a strange stalker and he could put the lives of each of the members of her family in danger.
 
I really get into the story from the first chapter and I loved to follow the plot and relationships of all the protagonists. They are all different but all very funny too. We can not doubt the dynamics of this family without knowing them. I really regret for waiting so long to read this first book and I am very happy to be able now to read the second. There are some very good finds throughout the story, and it was a great pleasure to read this first volume. It is for me a very good novel and I can not wait to read more. If you want something funny with atypical characters and a cute little story, do not hesitate to start it, you will not be disappointed!
