Synopsis: April Davis totally has her life in order. Ha! Not really. Yes, she’s the Calm Mom—a social influencer with a reputation for showing moms how to stay calm and collected through yoga—but behind the scenes, she’s barely holding it all together. Raising tiny humans alone is exhausting, but that’s just the chewed-up cherry on the melted sundae of her life. Her kids aren’t behaving, her husband left her for his skydiving instructor, and her top knot proves she hasn’t showered in days.

Then a live video of the “always calm” April goes viral…and she’s most definitely not. Enter Jack Gibson, April’s contact at the media conglomerate that has purchased April’s brand. The too-sexy-for-his-own good Jack will help clean up April’s viral mess, and even work with her to expand her influence, but toddler tea parties and a dog with a penchant for peeing on his shoes were definitely not part of the deal.

Now April’s calm has jumped ship quicker than her kids running from their vegetables. Not to mention, the sparks flying between her and Jack have her completely out of her depth. Forget finding her calm—April’s going to need a boatload of margaritas just to find her way back to herself again.

Review: I had a great time with the first book and was very curious to discover April in this volume.

April is known for being the zen mom, the calm mom. But since her husband left her, she’s been far from it. Besides, her life turns into a nightmare when everyone sees her getting angry at her children on live TV. No more zen mom, no more advice… It’s a disaster! That’s when Jack, Molly’s brother, enters the scene. He works with April and his goal is to make her regain her serenity, whatever he has to do. However, he didn’t expect to fall under her and her children’s spell.

It took me a little while to get into the story, but I had a great time with the characters. It was a pleasure to meet Molly again in a few scenes and see what she became. April and Jack are touching and understand perfectly why our heroine is having a hard time dealing with what is going on around her.

This was a great read and I look forward to Christina Hovland’s next novel!

Le trop sexy pour son propre bien Jack va aider à nettoyer ce désordre viral, et même travailler avec elle pour étendre son influence, mais les goûters pour les tout-petits et un chien avec un penchant pour pisser sur ses chaussures ne faisaient certainement pas partie du marché.

Maintenant, le calme d’April a quitté le navire plus vite que ses enfants ne fuient leurs légumes. Sans compter que les étincelles qui volent entre elle et Jack la dépassent. Au lieu de retrouver son calme, April va avoir besoin d’une bonne dose de margaritas pour retrouver le chemin de la sérénité.

Avis : J’avais passé un super moment avec le premier tome et j’étais très curieuse de découvrir April dans ce tome.

April est connue pour être la maman zen, la maman calme. Mais depuis que son mari l’a quittée, elle est très loin de l’être. D’ailleurs, sa vie tourne au cauchemar quand tout le monde la voit s’énerver sur ses enfants en direct. Fini la maman zen, fini les conseils… C’est la catastrophe ! C’est à ce moment-là que Jack, le frère de Molly entre en scène. Il travaille avec April et son objectif est de faire regagner sa sérénité à la jeune femme, quoi qu’il doive faire. Pourtant, il ne s’attendait pas à tomber sous son charme et celui de ses enfants.

J’ai mis un peu de temps à rentrer dans l’histoire, mais j’ai passé un très bon moment avec les personnages. C’était un plaisir de retrouver Molly dans quelques scènes et de voir ce qu’elle devenait. April et Jack sont touchants et comprend parfaitement pourquoi notre héroïne a du mal à gérer ce qui se passe autour d’elle.

C’était une très bonne lecture et j’attends le prochain roman de Christina Hovland avec plaisir !

Sick Boys, Book 2

Review: I loved the first volume and I was only waiting for one thing: to plunge into this second volume to discover what happens next. I can tell you that I had a great time and that I immediately grabbed the third volume to finally discover all the secrets of our dear Avalon Manning.

Avalon killed her attacker, but that doesn’t change what happened. She’s still strong, but she’ll soon discover that she’s never been more alone in her life. Everyone is hiding the truth from her, but she’ll do anything to find out what it is. The Sick Boys are, of course, always there, watching over her, or rather trying to bend her to do their bidding, and they’ll have to learn that she’ll never give in. Dean discovers feelings in himself that he did not know and does not know how to handle them very well. He is very authoritarian, but he knows only that. It is difficult for him to accept that Avalon will never do what he wants when he wants it.

Some secrets are revealed, but very few. Some characters change sides, but I have to say I’m looking forward to finally finding out all the outcomes in the final volume.

Each novel kept me on the edge of my seat until the end, impossible to put it down until I finished it and I can’t wait to find out what the author has in store for us. The next volume concludes the story of Avalon and Dean, but more will follow about the other two Sick Boys. This is a dark romance, with themes that are not easy, but are beautifully handled! I recommend it!

Sick Boys, Tome 2

La seule chose plus tordue que les Sick Boys, c’est moi, et je suis prête à le leur montrer.

Les Sick Boys me cachent quelque chose. Ils veulent faire comme si je n’avais pas tué mon violeur et qu’ils ne m’ont pas aidée. Mais nous ne sommes pas des étudiants ordinaires, c’est clair pour moi, et je suis fatiguée de tous ces mensonges et secrets.

Leurs masques se fissurent et finalement, je commence à voir la réalité grotesque qui se cache derrière. C’est bien plus sombre que ce à quoi je m’attendais, et ce n’est pas assez. Ils savent tout de moi, alors maintenant, c’est à mon tour de connaitre tout d’eux. Je n’ai peur de rien. Ni d’eux. Ni de l’homme que j’ai tué, ni des gens qui m’ont piégée.

La peur est pour les faibles et moi, Avalon Manning, je suis tout sauf une faible.

Avis : J’ai adoré le premier tome et je n’attendais qu’une chose : me plonger dans ce tome 2 pour découvrir la suite des évènements. Je peux vous dire que j’ai passé un super moment et que je me suis aussitôt pris le troisième tome pour découvrir enfin tous les secrets de notre chère Avalon Manning.

Avalon a tué son agresseur, mais ça ne change pas ce qui s’est passé. Elle reste forte, mais elle va vite découvrir qu’elle n’a jamais été aussi seule de sa vie. Tout le monde lui cache la vérité, mais elle va tout faire pour la découvrir. Les Sick Boys sont, bien sûr, toujours là, à veiller sur elle, ou plutôt à essayer de la faire plier pour qu’elle obéisse à leurs ordres et ils devront apprendre qu’elle ne se laissera jamais faire. Dean découvre en lui des sentiments qu’il ne connaissait pas et ne sait pas très bien les gérer. Il est très autoritaire, mais il ne connait que ça. C’est difficile pour lui d’accepter qu’Avalon ne fera jamais ce qu’il veut au moment où il le veut.

Certains secrets sont révélés, mais très peu. Certains personnages retournent leur veste, mais je dois dire que je suis impatiente de découvrir enfin tous les aboutissants dans le dernier tome.

Chaque roman m’a tenu en haleine jusqu’à la fin, impossible de le poser avant de l’avoir terminé et je suis impatiente de découvrir ce que nous réserve l’auteure. Le prochain tome conclut l’histoire d’Avalon et Dean, mais d’autres suivront sur les deux autres Sick Boys. C’est une romance sombre, avec des thèmes peu faciles, mais qui sont magnifiquement maitrisés ! Je conseille !

Review: I like this series by Christina Hovland and after reading the Rachel novel and the April one, I was curious to find out about the Molly and Gavin.

Molly is a dating coach. She’s good at it even though she is single. So when a contest requires her to find a partner, even if he’s not real, she figures Gavin might be perfect for the role. And the best part? They don’t like each other, so there’s no chance of falling in love! But when feelings get involved, everything goes to hell.

The novel was nice, even if it’s the novel I liked the least so far. It’s hard to really like Molly because no matter what Gavin does, she still manages to be mean to him. That aside, I was glad to get into another novel by the author and I’m curious to find out what the next one is!
