Mr. Popular and I by thefreakoffreaks

Synopsis: “You and I both know that any girl would kill to be in your position, with me, right now.” He smirks, knowing that what he’s said is completely and utterly true.

People like Lea Wilson and River Parker do not mix, that is why there is a literal separation between popular people like River, and outsiders like Lea. But, what if the two people who are least expected to spend time with each other are doing exactly that, spending time with each other. And, not only at school, but at home as well.

After Lea’s house falls apart due to a house mite attack, the Wilson’s are invited to stay at an old family friend’s mansion of a house. What makes the situation even more enchanting is that River is the son of the Wilson’s old family friend.

I’ll give you time to digest that information.

Yes, you’re right. The sarcastic nerd and the egotistic sex-god live under the same roof and are flooded with a series of events that make the two do something completely unexpected. They grow closer, and closer, and closer, until…well, you’ll have to find that out for yourself.

Follow Lea through her adventure of falling in love, getting her heart broken, and learning a lesson that explains there is more to life than she’s ever imagined.

Review: This is a novel that I did not know about at all but seeing it around and with such a synopsis, I was quite intrigued to see how the story was going to be.

Lea and her family were really unlucky … Their house collapsed because of termites. But fortunately for them an old friend of his father offers to host them. But now, she did not expect to discover that their son is none other than the handsome high school kid. The sparks appear from their meeting and they seem to hate each other from the beginning and yet …

The style of the author is very nice and we can read the novel very quickly. It is quite easy to be taken by the story and I was curious to see how the events were going to unfold throughout the chapters. Yet something also annoyed me, I must admit. Things are a little too easy or a little too big and suddenly they become less plausible (at least for me). The romance goes too fast, the infernal ex is finally very nice. I do not know, it seemed strange and surprising.

In any case, and even though I was expecting more, it was an interesting discovery.

  1. It looks like it could be fun, but I think the fast pacing of the story development would bother me, too. Maybe I will give it a closer look when I’m in the mood for an opposites attract teen romance.

    Thanks, Melliane!
