The Night Stalker by Robert Bryndza

Detective Erika Foster, Book 2

Synopsis: If the Night Stalker is watching, you’re already dead…

In the dead of a swelteringly hot summer’s night, Detective Erika Foster is called to a murder scene. The victim, a doctor, is found suffocated in bed. His wrists are bound and his eyes bulging through a clear plastic bag tied tight over his head.

A few days later, another victim is found dead, in exactly the same circumstances. As Erika and her team start digging deeper, they discover a calculated serial killer – stalking their victims before choosing the right moment to strike.

The victims are all single men, with very private lives. Why are their pasts shrouded in secrecy? And what links them to the killer?

As a heat wave descends upon London, Erika will do everything to stop the Night Stalker before the body count rises, even if it means risking her job. But the victims might not be the only ones being watched… Erika’s own life could be on the line.

The global bestselling author of The Girl in the Ice is back with a heart-racing, electrifying thriller. If you love Angela Marsons, Rachel Abbott and Karin Slaughter, you’ll be hooked on Robert Bryndza.

Review: Here is a thriller that I was curious to discover, and if I didn’t read the first volume, I had a good time with this second book!

Erika is still struggling to recover from her husband’s death which happened two years ago and her work keeps her head above water. When a doctor is found dead with a bag over his head and naked, the authorities make all kinds of assumptions. But Erika, the person in charge, is determined to understand what is going on, although everyone is trying to force her to turn to assumptions she doesn’t believe in at all!

I really had a good time with this story and I was curious to find out the whole truth and explanations about this story. Erika has to manage many external things that have a strong impact on her research and it’s true that it must be frustrating for her. We also discover some chapters from the killer’s side, learning more about the story and character, and especially about the motivations.

It was a good thriller and I really liked the originality touches that the author introduces here. I must admit that I am very curious to learn more and to discover the rest of Erika’s investigations!
