Anything You Can Do by R.S. Grey

Book 1

Synopsis: Lucas Thatcher has always been my enemy.

It’s been a decade since I’ve seen him, but our years on opposite coasts were less of a lasting peace and more of a temporary cease-fire. Now that we’re both back in our small town, I know Lucas expects the same old war, but I’ve changed since high school—and from the looks of it, so has he.

The arrogant boy who was my teenage rival is now a chiseled doctor armed with intimidating good looks. He is Lucas Thatcher 2.0, the new and improved version I’ll be competing with in the workplace instead of the schoolyard.

I’m not worried; I’m a doctor now too, board-certified and sexy in a white coat. It almost feels like winning will be too easy—until Lucas unveils a tactic neither of us has ever used before: sexual warfare.

The day he pushes me up against the wall and presses his lips to mine, I can’t help but wonder if he’s filling me with passion or poison. Every fleeting touch is perfect torture. With every stolen kiss, my walls crumble a little more. After all this time, Lucas knows exactly how to strip me of my defenses, but I’m in no hurry to surrender.

Knowing thy enemy has never felt so good.

Review: After reading The Foxe and the Hound that I thought was a standalone, I discovered that there was another story, the one of Madeleine’s brother, a story that unfolds before the novel. It’s not really embarrassing to read one volume without the other, but it’s true that I was curious to learn more about Daisy and Lucas and that’s exactly what we find here!

Since childhood, Daisy is a good friend with Madeleine but a shadow taints this picture: her brother Lucas. She hates him and it’s the same for him. Their childhood was only a competition and Daisy can not see him anymore! Yet fate will bring them together. When they return to town after their medical studies, they do not expect to have been accepted together to take over the same practice. But now, Daisy is determined to be the only one to recover the place and develops a tactic to evict her colleague. Still, she can not help but see that Lucas has become a handsome man, a very handsome man, while trying to remember that she hates him.

I found it very funny to see the exchanges between the two characters. They compete constantly but at the same time the tension evolves. It was very nice to see the revelations at the end of the story or the emails that Lucas never sent. We discover another aspect of him and we realize that Daisy does not see everything.

It was a very nice volume, which made me laugh more than once and I had a great time!

Tome 1

The Fortunate Ones by R.S. Grey

Synopsis: At Twin Oaks Country Club, there are the fortunate ones, and then there are the rest of us: the waiters, the caddies, the valets, and in my case, the cabana girls. Most days, I’m poolside in a pleated skirt, dishing out margaritas to tycoons and titans. It’s not exactly my dream job, but it does come with one perk…

James Ashwood.

He’s my silver lining in a custom black suit.

Besides being a legacy member at the club, he’s a tech mogul and Austin’s most eligible bachelor. Oh, and those dimples? Yeah, they make my stomach dip too.

On good days, I catch his sleek Porsche winding down the tree-lined drive. On better days, I steal a glimpse of his handsome profile as we pass in the hall. And on the absolute best day, I find him alone at the bar, looking for company.

“Come have a seat.”

Those four little words set me down a path I never could have imagined. Private planes, penthouse suites, and temptations around every corner make it impossible to keep my distance. His world feels decadent and wild—but overindulgence comes with a cost. Every kiss comes with strings. Every erotic encounter is a promise I’m not ready to keep.

When I pump the brakes, he hits the gas. James doesn’t want to go slow—he wants a commitment.

And the thing about the fortunate ones?

They’re used to getting what they want.

Review: I loved R.S. Grey’s “A Place in the Sun” novel and especially her hero Giancula. Yes, his abs and his sexy Italian side could only make you want to try it! But now, I found him an opponent and a good one in fact! Did I tell you about James, the new hero of The Unfortunates Ones? Besides, the girls understood that quite fast, and when he arrives at the country club, they are all trying to see him.

But here, Brooke, our heroine is the only one who does not make everything to be seen, the only one who looks from afar, but who never approaches to swoon before him. Yet she too can not help but look at him. So, when one night she closes the place she finds him alone and he asks her to sit down to talk with him, she can not help but to do that, to find out who he really is. But it will take more than that for a link to be created between them, but do they really want it?

I really had a great time with this novel! I let myself be carried away by the story and the characters that the author proposes us. In addition to that, I found it nice that the author offers us a different scheme of romance with a hero who wants something more, and a heroine who dreams of going as an au pair to teach French in another country so she doesn’t want a long relationship.

Several times my throat tightened when I saw everything that was happening and although I fully understand the behavior of the two characters, it is sad to see what they are doing to the other.

It was a very good contemporary romance!

The Fortunate Ones de R.S. Grey (VO)

The Design by R.S. Grey

Heart, Book 2

Synopsis: Five minutes until the interview begins.

Fresh on the heels of her college graduation, Cameron Heart has landed an interview at a prestigious architecture firm.

Four minutes until the interview.

She knows she’s only there because the owner, Grayson Cole, is her older sister’s friend.

Three minutes.

For the last seven years, Grayson has been the most intimidating man Cammie has ever had the pleasure, or displeasure, of being around.

Two Minutes.

But the job opportunity is too good to pass up. So, Cammie will have to ignore the fact that Grayson is handsome enough to have his own national holiday.

One.

After all, she shouldn’t feel that way about her new boss. And, he will be her new boss.

Review: I had a great time with the story of Brooklyn and Jason in the first novel and now it’s the turn of the sister (Cameron) and the best friend (Grayson).

In the first novel, we feel that something complicated is happening between them and that the situation is still very tense. We do not really know why and it is with this volume that we will discover what exactly lies in this situation. We thus begin the novel with Cammie, who is to have an interview in the architectural cabinet that her older sister managed to get her with Grayson. She is determined to get the job, but she really did not expect the interview to take place that way! Oh no, especially when the man explains to her that he has always been attracted to her, but that if he hires her, she will be his employee and therefore nothing will ever happen between them. So when we know that Cameron has been in love with this man for a long time, she can not let this go and her new goal now is to make him succumb!

The novel was refreshing and it was very funny to see our two heroes turn around each other, Cammie trying to put all her assets forward while Grayson tries to make her understand in many ways that she is wrong. I really liked their game. It was also very nice to find as much Brooklyn or Jason as I loved them previously. We can continue their story a little bit in the background.

By cons what disappointed me a bit is all the French mistakes in the text. As Cammie dreams of going to Paris, there are many sentences and there are very few that were correct. I was quite frustrated about that…

Heart, Tome 2

The Duet by R.S. Grey

A Heart, Book 1

Synopsis: When 27-year-old pop sensation Brooklyn Heart steps in front of a microphone, her love songs enchant audiences worldwide. But when it comes to her own love life, the only spell she’s under is a dry one.

So when her label slots her for a Grammy performance with the sexy and soulful Jason Monroe, she can’t help but entertain certain fantasies… those in which her G-string gets more play than her guitars’.

Only one problem. Jason is a lyrical lone wolf that isn’t happy about sharing the stage—nor his ranch—with the sassy singer. But while it may seem like a song entitled ‘Jason Monroe Is an Arrogant Ho’ basically writes itself, their label and their millions of fans are expecting recording gold…

They’re expecting The Duet.

Review : I continue to discover RS Grey novels with The Duet. I do not necessarily read a lot of romances in the world of music, this is not the theme that attracts me the most, but I was curious to discover this story.

Jason and Brooklyn are two well-known singers of the same label, yet they have never crossed paths and their music is very different. But now, they both have the chance to perform at the Grammy’s and their superiors have decided that it would be extremely profitable to make a duet of the two stars. Although the idea does not convince much Brook, Jason is completely opposed to that. So you suspect that the young woman is pretty upset. Having no choice at all, Brooklyn joins Jason on his ranch in Montana, but she did not expect everything to go so bad. They constantly quarrel and hate each other … and yet …

I had a great time with the novel and it’s true that I did not necessarily expect the turn at the end of the story. Jason is hard to pin down and it’s true that we do not understand exactly what he wants. He blows hot and cold constantly. This is also why it is easy to become attached to Brook, to understand her doubts, her sadness and her hopes. This is not a simple situation. We also discover her younger sister Cammie who is just like her a person I had a lot of fun to know. I am also curious to discover her story now. I feel like it is going to be epic, and that will allow me to learn more about Grayson, a friend of Brook, at the same time.
