Can you present you in a few words?

Coffee-addicted, sarcastic, cheerful, geeky.

How would you describe the Secret McQueen series?

It’s about a badass half-vampire/half-werewolf former bounty hunter who has had to deal with a lot of crazy life changes all while attempting to keep her mixed heritage a secret.

Was it difficult to write the first book? How long did it take?

The first book took me about 5 years to write because I was in university when I started it, and wasn’t taking it too seriously. Subsequent books have been much faster, usually about 2 months.

You write about different genre, which one is your favorite?

I started with urban fantasy and it’s probably still my favorite. I like being able to invent creatures and worlds. Writing contemporary requires you to abide by real-world rules, and urban fantasy lets you do a lot more.

Could you describe your average day and writing practices?

It depends. I write full time now, but a LOT of my time is spent doing other things, like answering emails, staring at my coffee maker, or procrastinating. On a good writing day, I use a program called Mac Freedom which cuts off your internet connection for a set amount of time. I aim for about 5000 words a day and with that program I can usually exceed that.

What is the most memorable moment (good, bad, or other) you have had in your life as an author?

Definitely getting my first book contract. Lately, though, getting to meet fans at conferences is amazing. It’s so surreal to have people come up to me who’ve read and loved my books. Nothing is better.

What would you most like potential readers to know about you and/or your books?

About me – I’m a very open, interactive author. I’m always around on Twitter, so please never hesitate to say hello or chat about the books. As for the books themselves – if you like smart, savvy women, and men who buck the uber-alpha trend, check out my stuff.

List 5 characters from your Secret McQueen series and do word associations.

Secret – Badass

Holden – Snark

Desmond – Sweetheart

Lucas – Jerk (sorry, but everyone who reads it seems to think so)

Calliope – Foresight

If you could, would you change places with any of your characters?

I can’t think of a single one I’d want to swap with except maybe Calliope, and I don’t know if I’d want to drink virgin blood and see the future. I love Secret, but she goes through so much awful stuff, I’d NEVER want to swap places with her. And honestly, if she was real she’d probably kill me.

What can readers expect from the upcoming sequels?

In book 6 which comes out in October I’ve written the scariest villain since Deep Dark Secret’s Professor Mayhew. And he’s human. In books 7 & 8 there will be a lot of resolutions and some VERY unexpected twists.

Who is your favorite kick ass heroine?

Kate Daniels from the Ilona Andrews series.

Are there any other projects you’re working on or thinking about starting in the near future?

I’m continuing my baseball series and doing some other fun contemporary stuff. I also have notions about some other new genre stuff including a new urban fantasy series after Secret wraps up.

Obtenir certainement mon premier contrat d’édition.

Secret Unleashed (Secret McQueen, 6) – Sierra Dean

Synopsis: After her last mission tested the limits of her humanity and took her out of this world, Secret’s friends, determined to keep her safe from her old nemesis Alexandre Peyton, keep ushering her from one babysitter to the next.
Couch surfing would be a lot more fun if Alexandre would let up on her long enough to allow her to get in some alone time with her lovers. Including Holden, her self-appointed shadow.

As if living out of coffin isn’t bad enough, Secret literally brings down the house while hunting a rogue, causing the council to exile her from New York—for her own safety, of course.

With her list of people to trust getting shorter and shorter, Secret ends up embroiled in a mystery to find a vampire warden gone AWOL and a missing artifact. Things go from bad to worse when she falls into the hands of a man who will prove that humans can be the worst monsters of them all.

Warning: Contains a cross-country journey, an unexpected family reunion, heated lovers’ embraces and a hell of a lot of trouble.
