Crew, Book 1

Synopsis: To survive where I live, you have two options.

You can be a Normal–a cheerleader, jock, member of the debate team, or on the yearbook committee. You pretend everything is normal.

Or you can be crew.
You insult us? We hurt you.
You hurt us? We really hurt you.
And if you screw with us, we will end you.

My name is Bren.
I’m the only female in the Wolf Crew–the best, fiercest, and most dangerous crew there is–and we have a rule: There’s no falling in love.

Well… too late.

Review: I follow Tijan’s novels closely and when I heard about this novel, I was really very curious to find out more about it. How to resist it? I was so intrigued by the mpention of crew here and even more to see the characters commit to evolve through it all.

We discover Bren, one of the few girls who is part of a crew. It is not easy but this girl has her place like any other. The laws of the crew are immutable, but it’s not disturbing because they are a family and they are there for each other.

I will not say much more because I prefer to give you the opportunity to discover all the characters by yourself. I had a good time discovering Bren and her friends. Her relationship with each of them and especially Cross is really interesting to see. This girl presents a different broken character and even if I suspected pretty quickly the secret she hid, I found very interesting to discover the truth and her past. she is tough and at the same time she hides a very touching sensitivity. Her relationship with her brother is also really interesting and we see that they are looking for each other without knowing how to really act. The theme of Crews is fascinating even if it is still a bit abstract for me. There are also many references to Fallen Crest and have not read it I do not know if it’s important or not, but I found the idea very nice!

I thought that this novel was a one shot but it seems that it is the first of a series so I am all the more curious to discover what the author is preparing for the future.

This sounds interesting. I haven’t read Tijan before but this one is rather appealing. I think that the crew she is a part of would add a neat element to the story. Great review!
