A Study in Pink by Steven Moffat & Mark Gatiss & Jay

Sherlock, Book 1

Synopsis: The Japanese SHERLOCK Manga comes to the USA and UK for the first time ever! Adapting the episodes of the smash-hit BBC America/Hartswood Films TV show that sees Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman) tackling brain-teasing crimes in modern-day London, this stunning manga is presented in its original right-to-left reading order, and in the full chapters as originally serialised. Each oversized issue comes with a selection of BRAND-NEW covers by some of the best Sherlock artists around! #1 kicks things off with a 52pp special. Meet Sherlock and Watson for the first time… all over again!

Review: I heard a lot about Sherlock’s TV series, but I have to admit that the way of filming has never attracted me. Yes, I know, it can be strange but it has always been the case for me. Maybe I should try again especially given the praise of the seasons? In any case, here I am with the adapted comics and I confess that I was curious enough to see how it was.

I could not say if the transcript of the series is well done, but it is true that the main actor is really well mastered at the level of the drawings! The story itself is also catchy and we are easily taken in by the investigation and the extravagant attitude of Sherlock or the reserved one of Watson.

It was a first volume that I enjoyed and it is true that I will read the sequel with pleasure. I had a good time, the illustrations are nice, so what more can we ask for?
