Synopsis: Worlds collide when Rachel Morgan of The Hollows meets Peri Reed of The Drafter in this exciting new short story from #1 New York Times bestselling author Kim Harrison.

The paranormal and the futuristic meet in this thrilling novella featuring your favorite badass heroines from two of Kim Harrison’s most beloved series: the Hollows and the Peri Reed Chronicles. The magic of the Hollows runs full force into the technological sophistication of The Drafter when a device capable of carrying a city’s data stream pulls Rachel, the bounty hunter witch of the Hollows, between realities, marooning her in a world where the supernatural holds no sway. To get Rachel and Jenks home, Peri, the dangerous renegade of 2030, must decide what will chart her future: her blind trust in those who grant her power, or her intuition telling her to believe.

Review: Kim Harrison offers us a very original novel. Indeed, she decided to gather in Waylaid two of her series which are surprisingly very different. I liked the few Peri Reed novels, but I loved the Rachel Morgan series, so how to resist it?

Of course, the mix of universes is a little tricky but it was quite funny to see the meeting of Rachel and Peri, or even to find Al and Jenks. On the other hand, it’s true that I did not necessarily connect as much as I thought. It’s a good addition for fans, but I’m not sure it’s a novella that I will recommend particularly.

Too bad you weren’t able to connect and you wouldn’t recommend it. I think the combining of two different universes could have been interesting. Hopefully the next book by Kim Harrison is better!

You reminded me that I have a copy of this. I need to read it. I am not the biggest fan of the Peri books, but I love the Hollows.

She has so many series, but I still have yet to read any of her books. I still need to read The Hollows, but maybe this!

I haven’t tried the Perri Reed books which I would want to do before this one. I understand she is going back and writing more in the Hollows world.
