Except she met Arland, the Marshal of House Krahr. One thing led to another and he asked for her hand in marriage. She declined.

Try as she might, she can’t just walk away from Arland. It doesn’t help that being human is a lot harder for Maud than being a vampire.

To sort it all out, she accepts his invitation to visit his home planet. House Krahr is a powerful vampire House, and Maud knows that a woman who turned down the proposal from its most beloved son wouldn’t get a warm reception. But Maud Demille never shied from a fight and House Krahr may soon discover that there is more to this human woman than they ever thought possible.

Review: I had a good time with the first Dina Demille volumes. I was quite curious to see how this novel about Maud would turn out, and while I wasn’t as hooked, I thought the story was quite nice.

Maud thought she’d never be linked to a vampire again, and was out of all their stories, but that was before she found Arland. Their bond is strong and despite what she promised herself, Maud will fall under his spell again and is determined to see where this story can take them, even if nothing will be easy. It was nice to see her gradually earn her place among the vampires, who are far from welcoming.

Maud is very different from Dina, but it was nice to discover her story and learn more about her after having her as a secondary character in the first volumes.

Autrefois épouse d’un puissant chevalier vampire, Maud aspire désormais à une vie tranquille, délivrée de sa vengeance et loin du monde des vampires.
Mais c’était sans compter sur Arland, l’auguste maréchal de la puissante Maison Krahr… qui vient de la demander en mariage.

Maud s’est juré de ne plus mettre le doigt dans l’engrenage des luttes de pouvoir vampiriques. Pourtant, elle est incapable de renoncer à Arland, malgré les nombreux obstacles qui se dressent sur leur chemin.

Mais la Maison Krahr est une Maison vampire puissante, et Maud sait bien qu’elle est loin d’y être la bienvenue. Qu’importe : elle ne s’est jamais dérobée à un combat, et toute cette clique de vampires pourrait bien découvrir que l’humaine qu’ils ont tant méprisée et sous-estimée pourrait bien leur réserver des surprises…

Avis : J’ai passé un bon moment avec les premiers tomes sur Dina Demille. J’étais assez curieuse de voir ce qu’allait donner ce roman sur Maud, et si je n’ai pas autant accroché, j’ai trouvé l’histoire assez sympa.

Maud pensait ne plus jamais être liée à un vampire, et être sortie de toutes leurs histoires, mais c’était avant de retrouver Arland. Leur lien est fort et malgré ce qu’elle s’était promis, Maud va retomber sous son charme et est bien décidée à voir où cette histoire peut les mener, même si rien ne sera facile. C’était sympa de la voir gagner sa place petit à petit au sein des vampires qui sont loin d’être accueillants.

Maud est très différente de Dina, mais c’était sympa de découvrir son histoire et d’en apprendre plus sur elle après l’avoir eue comme personnage secondaire dans les premiers tomes.

Un roman bien sympa !

Review: I had a great time with the first volume and was very curious to discover this one.

Poe finds himself on a new case. Well, no, it’s not that new. A few years ago, he put a chef away for the murder of his daughter, even though no body was ever found, just lots and lots of blood. But now a young woman has presented herself to an agent claiming to be Elizabeth, and a DNA test confirms it. Is it possible to fake a DNA test? It seems impossible… And yet… Because Poe is sure Elizabeth is dead and his father wants to bring him down. Luckily for him, Poe will be helped by the very talented Tilly Bradshaw, who will do everything in her power to help him.

I had a great time with this novel. I had such a hard time letting go of it until the end because I was so curious to find out how the story was going to end. It won’t be easy, but our dear Poe is ready to clear his name.

A very good detective story!

Washington Poe, Tome2

Résumé : Jared Keaton, le chef étoilé le plus célèbre de Grande-Bretagne, est en prison pour l’assassinat de sa fille unique, Elizabeth. Son corps n’a jamais été retrouvé mais le témoignage de l’inspecteur Washington Poe a convaincu les jurés.
Affaire classée. Jusqu’à ce qu’une jeune femme prétende être… Elizabeth. Ce que les analyses confirment ! Keaton est aussitôt libéré et Poe se retrouve en fâcheuse posture. Le chef a juré sa perte, et il a eu six ans pour mijoter sa vengeance.
Avec l’aide de la seule personne en qui il a confiance, Tilly Bradshaw, une geek surdouée mais socialement inadaptée, Poe doit prouver à tous qu’il ne s’est pas trompé.
Mais comment Elizabeth aurait-elle pu ressusciter ? Impossible de le lui demander : elle a de nouveau disparu…

Avis : J’ai passé un très bon moment avec le premier tome et j’étais très curieuse de découvrir celui-ci.

Poe se retrouve sur une nouvelle affaire. Enfin, non, elle n’est pas si nouvelle que ça. Il y a quelques années, il a fait enfermer un chef cuisinier pour le meurtre de sa fille, même si aucun corps n’a jamais été trouvé, seulement du sang en grande quantité. Mais voilà, une jeune femme s’est présentée à un agent en prétendant être Elizabeth et un test ADN le confirme. Est-ce qu’il est possible de faire un faux test ADN ? Ça semble impossible… Et pourtant… Parce que Poe est sûr qu’Elizabeth est morte et que son père veut le faire tomber. Heureusement pour lui, Pie sera aidé de la très douée Tilly Bradshaw qui va tout faire pour l’aider.

J’ai passé un super moment avec ce roman. J’ai eu beaucoup de mal à le lâcher avant la fin tellement j’étais curieuse de découvrir comment l’histoire allait se terminer, tout est vraiment très bien tourné. Ce sera loin d’être facile, mais notre cher Poe est prêt à tout s’innocenter.

Review: When I read the first volume of the series, I felt like I was missing something. I understand better now. I strongly recommend you to get into this volume 0.5 before starting the series.

Rory has a new job: transporting a shipment from point A to point B. But it’s a shady job and she doesn’t know exactly what she’ll be doing. But the pay is good and she can pay off her debt and finally be free. When she discovers what’s in her safe, she’s faced with a choice: do the right thing or finish the mission and get the money back.

It’s also in this volume that our heroine meets Zev, this sexy man I can’t wait to find out more about! This little story is a good introduction to the series and I can’t wait to read volume 2 now!

Avis : En lisant le premier tome de la série, j’ai eu l’impression d’avoir manqué quelque chose. Je comprends mieux maintenant. Je vous conseille fortement de vous lancer dans ce tome 0.5 avant de commencer la série.

Rory a un nouveau boulot : transporter une cargaison d’un point A à un point B. Mais voilà, c’est un travail un peu louche et ne sait pas exactement ce qu’elle fera. Pourtant, le salaire est alléchant et lui permettrait de rembourser sa dette et d’être enfin libre. Quand elle découvre ce qu’il y a dans son coffre, elle va être confrontée à un choix : faire ce qui est bien ou finir la mission et récupérer l’argent.

C’est aussi dans ce tome que notre héroïne rencontre Zev, cet homme sexy sur lequel j’ai hâte d’en savoir plus ! Cette petite histoire est une bonne introduction à la série et je suis impatiente de lire le tome 2 à présent !

Review: I enjoyed the author’s first trilogy. The first arc has ended, but a second begins here with some characters appearing in Penny’s story.

Penny has always been kept away from magic, so she’s very surprised when she discovers she has certain talents. Unfortunately, she’s not the only one to discover what she can do, and she soon finds herself hunted down and thrown into a world she knows nothing about. Worst of all, the Mage Guild is after her. Fortunately, Emery, a Rogue Natural who is trying to bring down the Guild, offers her a chance to join forces with him. She’s going to discover a corrupt world, a world where power is everything, and she’s going to join forces with Emery to change things.

I had a great time with this novel. Penny’s going to have to get used to a whole new world very quickly, and I thought it was fun to discover it with her. Emery does everything he can to protect her, and that’s no mean feat, because our heroine is very good at getting into trouble. It was a nice first volume and I’m very curious to find out what happens next.
