Bee isn’t sure whether to be infuriated or relieved when Constantine pops up in her prison. The broody, brawny shifter lights her fire in a way no one ever has before, yet how far can she really trust him? Their chemistry may be off the charts, but when push comes to shove, Constantine will have to make a crucial choice: to save the dragons or the woman he’s grown to love with fierce intensity.

Review: I do not necessarily read a lot of paranormal romances but when it comes to Katie McAlister, I never ask myself many questions. This is an author who has an undeniable talent to present her readers with something a little different with always a big touch of humor that is really appreciated! I also had a great time with the first volume and I did not wait long to dive into this one to find out what the author would present us again. Did I say that there were dragons?

We therefore discover Constantine, the ghost of an ancient dragon, wandering like a lost soul until his former girlfriend, Ysolde, offers him a new quest: the ability to break the curse that keeps all the dragons. Attractive, is not it? Except for this, Constantine must travel to the demons’ world to try to recover an ancient talisman and thus regain its former glory. However, things did not really go as planned and that starts with his meeting with a Charmer, Bee, who is prisoner by the demons but with the same mission; or meeting with Gary, the talking head. Yes, you read it correctly, a talking head. I also loved that character, he is completely crazy, pretty boring it must be said, and he loves ranting about all sorts of topics! His scenes are always so fun to follow. But back specifically to the main characters. We therefore follow Constantine, who, it must be said, has an oversized ego but that is seen fairly quickly. He does not hesitate to speak his mind whenever he wants to and it was pretty fun to see him evolve around Bee. In terms of the young woman, I appreciated the fact that she resists him initially despite the advances of the man and it is true that I also liked her gentle and determined nature. In short, a pretty cool duo as you can see.

Returning to the story, the two will have to team up to try to understand what exactly is happening with this curse that ultimately seems more complicated to break than expected. Moreover, Constantine will face the demons of his past he thought he had left behind long ago.

You will therefore understand that once again the author presents a very nice story and I was very happy to have the opportunity to discover it. To see what happens afterwards with such purpose.

Faire monter la pression



Bee n’est pas sûre si elle doit être furieuse ou soulagée lorsque Constantine surgit dans sa prison. Le change-forme musclé allume son feu comme personne, mais à quel point peut-elle vraiment lui faire confiance ? Leur chimie peut avoir commencé de façon différente, mais quand les choses se gâtent, Constantine devra faire un choix crucial : sauver les dragons ou la femme qu’il a appris à aimer avec une intensité féroce.

Avis : Je ne lis pas forcément beaucoup de romances paranormales mais quand il est question de Katie McAlister, je ne me pose jamais beaucoup de questions. C’est une auteure qui a un talent indéniable pour présenter à ses lecteurs quelque chose d’un peu différent avec toujours une grosse pointe d’humour que l’on apprécie tant ! J’avais d’ailleurs passé un très bon moment avec le premier volume et je n’ai pas attendu longtemps pour me plonger dans la suite et découvrir ce que l’auteure allait nous présenter une nouvelle fois. Vous-ai-je dit qu’il y avait des dragons ?

On découvre ainsi Constantine, le fantôme d’un ancien dragon, errant comme une âme en peine jusqu’au jour où son ancienne compagne, Ysolde, lui propose une nouvelle quête : la possibilité de briser la malédiction qui maintient tous les dragons. Attractif n’est-ce pas ? Sauf que pour cela, Constantine doit se rendre chez les démons pour essayer de récupérer un ancien talisman et ainsi retrouver sa gloire d’antan. Pourtant, les choses ne vont pas vraiment se passer comme prévu et cela commence par sa rencontre avec une Charmeuse, Bee, prisonnière par les démons mais avec la même mission, ou encore sa rencontre avec Gary, la tête parlante. Oui, vous avez bien lu, une tête parlante. J’ai d’ailleurs adoré ce personnage, il est complètement loufoque, assez chiant il faut le dire et adore déblatérer sur toutes sortes de sujets ! Ses scènes sont toujours des plus amusantes à suivre. Mais revenons plus précisément aux personnages principaux. Nous avons donc Constantine, qui, il faut le dire, possède un égo surdimensionné mais que l’on apprécie assez rapidement. Il n’hésite pas à dire ce qu’il pense quand il le désire et c’était assez amusant de le voir évoluer autour de Bee. Pour ce qui est de la jeune femme, j’ai beaucoup apprécié le fait qu’elle lui résiste au départ malgré les avances de l’homme et c’est vrai que j’ai aussi aimé son caractère déterminé et doux. Bref un duo assez sympa comme vous pouvez le voir.

Si l’on revient à l’histoire, les deux vont devoir faire équipe pour essayer de comprendre ce qu’il se passe exactement avec cette malédiction qui semble finalement bien plus compliquée à briser que prévu. D’ailleurs, Constantine va devoir faire face aux démons de son passé qu’il pensait avoir laissés derrière lui depuis longtemps.

Vous aurez donc compris qu’une fois encore l’auteure nous présente une histoire très agréable et j’étais très contente d’avoir l’occasion de la découvrir. A voir ce qu’il se passera par la suite avec une telle fin.

Review: When I saw the release of a new series by Katie MacAlister, featuring once again some dragons, I admit that I was really intrigued. I must say that the author always has an incredible gift with her paranormal romances, creating something unique and very pleasant to read.

We discover Aoife, a young woman just released out of a mental institution where she spent two years after announcing to everyone having witnessed a murder with the presence of dragons and a man who disappeared in a cloud of smoke. But now, our heroine is now determined to get her life in hand, determined not to fall into anything fantastic again. However, fate does not really seem to agree with her when it places on her path a demon dog who speaks or even a naked man straight out of macho-land. Projected in a world she doesn’t know anything about, she will understand that she is not crazy and that there is far more than she imagined. Teaming up with this man, Kostya, they will try to find a way to break the terrible curse spreading among the dragons, but they will also have to deal with the feelings they have for each other.

I must say I’m really not a big fan of insta-love, and it’s a bit like what we have here. Yet the author plays with the characters so well that it makes it much easier in history. Indeed, there is a big search for each protagonist. I think this is why we appreciate them all very quickly. So we have Aoife, a young woman who is projected into an unknown world, but who finds a place there rather quickly. Oh yes, because she seems stingy with answers and always ready to provoke Kostya to see how he will react. As for the dragon, we easily find a macho man, straight out of the Middle Ages we might think as he remains obtuse and stubborn in all circumstances. It’s funny because even seeing the truth in the face, he remains on his positions whatever it costs him. And then we have our demon dog. Oh I loved him! His spikes make us smile easily throughout the chapters and it’s very funny to see how he provokes all the characters.

Finally, as you can see, I had a great time with this novel. Many passages make us smile and I loved all the interactions between the characters. They all have completely conquered me. A very good first novel for a series to follow.

Kostya n’a pas le temps de s’occuper d’une femme humaine avec des questions sans fin, peu importe si elle est belle et séduisante. Il doit briser la malédiction qui a éclaté les clans des dragons avant que toute son espèce ne meure. Mais son puissant attrait pour Aoife est beaucoup plus profond que le physique et il pourrait y avoir plus pour elle que même les yeux cinglants du dragon. Pour survivre à la bataille à venir pour le sort de sa race, il a besoin d’une compagne de cœur et d’âme. . .

Avis : Quand j’ai vu la sortie d’une nouvelle série de Katie MacAlister, mettant une fois de plus des dragons en avant, j’avoue que j’ai été vraiment intriguée. Il faut dire que l’auteure a toujours un don incroyable pour faire de ses romances paranormales quelque chose d’unique et de très plaisant à lire.

On découvre Aoife, une jeune femme qui vient de sortir d’une institution psychiatrique où elle a passé deux ans, après avoir annoncé à tout le monde avoir été témoin d’un meurtre avec la présence de dragons et même d’hommes disparaissant dans un nuage de fumée. Mais voilà, notre héroïne est maintenant bien décidée à reprendre sa vie en main, bien décidée à ne plus retomber dans quoi que ce soit de fantastique. Pourtant, le destin ne semble pas vraiment être d’accord avec elle quand il lui place sur sa route un chien démon qui parle ou encore un homme nu tout droit sorti de macholand. Projetée dans un monde qui l’a fait enfermer, elle va comprendre qu’elle n’est pas folle et qu’il existe bien plus que ce qu’elle ne croyait. S’alliant avec cet homme, Kostya, ils vont essayer de trouver un moyen de briser la malédiction terrible se diffusant chez les dragons, mais ils vont aussi devoir face aux sentiments qu’ils ont l’un pour l’autre.

Je dois dire que je ne suis vraiment pas une grande fan d’insta-love, et c’est un peu ça que nous avons ici. Pourtant, l’auteure joue tellement bien avec les personnages que ce fait passe beaucoup plus facilement dans l’histoire. En effet, il y a une grosse recherche au niveau de chaque protagoniste. Je pense que c’est aussi pour cela qu’on les apprécie très vite tous. Nous avons donc Aoife, une jeune femme qui, bien que projetée dans un monde inconnu, se fait rapidement une place. Oh oui, parce qu’elle semble avare de réponses et toujours prête à provoquer Kostya pour voir comment il réagira. Pour ce qui est du dragon, on retrouve facilement un homme macho, tout droit sorti du moyen âge pourrait-on croire et qui reste obtus et têtu en toutes circonstances. C’est drôle parce que même en voyant la vérité en face, il reste sur ses positions quoi qu’il lui en coûte. Et puis il y a notre chien démon. Oh je l’ai adoré ! Ses piques nous font facilement sourire tout au long des chapitres et c’est très drôle de voir à quel point il cherche tous les personnages.

Enfin vous l’aurez compris, j’ai passé un super moment avec ce roman. Beaucoup de passages nous font sourire et j’ai adoré toutes les interactions des personnages. Ils m’ont tous complètement conquise. Un très bon premier roman pour une série à suivre.

If only she knew the consequences of changing the past to save one good, impossibly sexy vampire…

Review: I was really curious about this Katie Macalister’s series after having a good time with another of her book that I had the opportunity to read. I must say that I was surprised by this one. I enjoyed her writing style with the great humor she adds in her stories. This novel is no exception to the rule. It was a real pleasure and I can see the real talent of the author for paranormal romance  novels. I was completely conquered. 

So what about the story? Our young heroine, Io, went to visit her cousin for a well deserved holiday after a problem with her boss. The sexual harassment she suffered has placed her in a rather awkward situation. But deciding to take advantage of the new landscapes with her passion for photography, she is eager to discover the new country. She will also meet some quite atypical characters she does not understand as they keep telling they’re vampires. She knows it’s something impossible and she wonders if they do not make fun of her. But soon after, while wanting to take pictures of the woods next to her house, she finds herself strangely propelled into the eighteenth century without understanding the reason. She is found by Nikola, a typical man of the century who is used to be the master of every situation. But his life is completely turned upside down when he finds a young unconscious woman after a little accident. He also thinks she is a prostitute with the kinds of clothes she wears. He can however no longer control what happens and would really like to understand why he is so attracted to her.
 
I really loved this story, as well as our two main characters. Io is a young determined woman who does not hesitate to tell what she wants to, whatever the consequences. Waking up in this new world, she is at first in denial and thinks she is crazy to finally accept the truth. You might think she would be discreet and thank Nikola for saving her? But it’s not the case! She will make him do whatever she wants, saying things he doesn’t understand or even annoying him as much as she cas. It is quite surprising for a man of his stature and he would like to understand who this woman is. He does not understand how this woman dares to face him in this way and he is determined to show her that he is the only master on board. But anyway our young heroine knows how to lead him by the nose. Their relationship is very well written and developed throughout the story. Their nature is explosive and I loved their arguments. We never expect what they will say and we are never disappointed.

It was a really good book and the more I read, the more I appreciate the style of Katie Macalister which is humorous and full of amazing ideas. I recommend this one to any fan of paranormal romance.
I don’t usually add some quotes to my reviews but it was too much fun:
 “Io. My name is Io.” She pronounced the name “eye-oh” as if there perfectly ordinary. Which was ridiculous, because no one he knew bore a name with only vowels.”

“Women…. They insist on being loving and kind and caring, and why do they do that? To make a man feel guilty, that’s why. And then they lure innocent men who are busy with important scientific research into impregnating them, and then said busy men end up caring about said spawn. And these ladies smell good, too. Deliberately. The wenches.”


“And you can just stop that right now, too.” 

“Stop what?

“That,” Io pointed at his crotch, “You’re getting all bulgy, and I resent your penis’s implication that I’m doing something to arouse you. Unless you’re some sort of weirdo who gets off by women saying the word ‘penis’ which is frankly kinda sad.”


“Are you planning on asking my daughter’s permission to ravish me as I deserve? If so, please take heed when she informs you that I am lonely and need a woman in my life. She’s been nagging me for the last five years to find one.”
“In your dreams, bat boy.”

Nikola Czerny est un homme maudit, contraint par ses demi-frères à vivre éternellement comme Dark One. Mais sa misérable existence prend une tournure intéressante lorsqu’une étrange femme est jetée sur son chemin. Iolanthe prétend connaître la fille de Nikola – trois cents ans dans l’avenir. Elle sait aussi ce que le destin – sous la forme de ses meurtriers de demi-frères – lui réserve. Si seulement elle savait ce que changer le passé à pour conséquences afin de sauver un bon vampire incroyablement sexy …
Avis : J’étais vraiment curieuse de découvrir cette série de Katie Macalister après avoir passé un très bon moment avec une autre que j’ai pu avoir l’occasion de lire. Il faut dire que j’avais vraiment été surprise et j’avais beaucoup apprécié son style d’écriture et l’humour qu’elle ajoute dans ses histoires. Ce roman ne déroge pas à la règle. C’était un vrai régal et j’entrevois le véritable talent de l’auteur pour la romance paranormale. J’ai été complètement conquise. 
Alors qu’en est-il de l’histoire ? Notre jeune héroïne, Io, se rend chez sa cousine pour des vacances bien méritées après avoir eu un souci avec son patron. Le harcèlement sexuel qu’elle a subi l’a placé dans une situation assez gênante. Mais bien décidée à profiter des nouveaux paysages et de sa passion pour la photographie, elle est impatiente de découvrir ce nouveau pays. Elle rencontrera d’ailleurs des personnages assez atypiques dont elle ne comprend pas les propos, et qui se tannent d’être des vampires. Chose qu’elle sait impossible et elle se demande s’ils ne se moquent pas d’elle. Mais peu après, en voulant faire des photos du bois à côté de sa demeure, elle se retrouve étrangement propulsée au dix-huitième siècle sans qu’elle ne comprenne la raison. Elle sera retrouvée par Nikola, un homme typique de ce siècle qui a l’habitude d’être le maître de toute situation. Mais sa vie est totalement chamboulée quand il trouve une jeune femme qui se retrouve inconsciente après avoir foncé dans son cheval. Il la prend d’ailleurs tout d’abord pour une prostituée vu les habits qu’elle porte. Il ne maîtrise plus ce qu’il se passe et il aimerait vraiment comprendre pourquoi il est tant attiré par elle.
J’ai vraiment adoré cette histoire, de même que nos deux personnages principaux. Io est une jeune femme qui n’a pas sa langue dans sa poche et n’hésite pas à dire ce qu’elle pense, quelles qu’en soient les conséquences. Se réveillant dans ce nouveau monde, elle est tout d’abord en déni, puis se croit folle, pour ensuite accepter cette vérité qui s’impose à elle. On pourrait croire qu’elle se fera toute petite et remerciera Nikola de l’avoir sauvé ? Mais que nenni ! Elle va le faire tourner en bourrique, lui sortant des mots qu’il ne comprend pas et le reprenant dès qu’il fait quelque chose qu’elle ne trouve pas bien. Ce qui est assez étonnant pour un homme de sa stature. Il ne comprend pas comment une femme ose lui parler de la sorte et est bien décidé à lui montrer qu’il est le seul maître à bord. Mais quoi qu’il en soit notre jeune héroïne est douée pour le mener par le bout du nez. Leur relation est très bien écrite et développée tout au long de l’histoire. Leur caractère est explosif et j’ai adoré leurs joutes verbales. On ne s’attend jamais à ce qu’ils vont se dire et on n’est jamais déçu.
C’était vraiment un très bon roman et je me mets de plus en plus à apprécier le style de Katie Macalister qui est plein d’humour et d’idées étonnantes. Je le conseille à tout fan de romance paranormale.
Je ne mets jamais de citations d’habitude mais j’ai trouvé que certains passages valaient vraiment le coup:
