Unfortunately, their plot to free Marlee is foiled when they are caught by the fae queen. And the only chance the queen gives them to save Marlee’s life may be an impossible quest…

Review: I really appreciated the previous volumes and I was very happy to see that Ada edition also had released some volumes in French! I bought this last novel when it came out, but it took me a long time to read it. So of course, I forgot a lot of events in the story as usual …

Tammy Jo gets to know early in the story her twin sister Kismet who was abducted by the fae when she was still a baby. The meeting is pretty great and I was eager to learn more about her. But it’s true that I was surprised to see their differences and to see how impulsive Kismet was. Yet it is true that it is quite touching to see K. understand that she is no longer alone in this world. But now, her arrival also announces new changes. Indeed, it seems that Marlee, the mother of twins finds herself in a complicated situation in the Never and Tammy Jo is determined to go there to understand what exactly is happening. But she will not be alone because Eddie, Bryn, but also Zach, will be there to accompany her on this new journey.

I really enjoyed seeing more of the Never after hearing so much about it, seeing how this kingdom was governed. However, it is true that as often in all novels, this place is not simple even if it contains extraordinary things. Tammy Jo will have to face some obstacles but also to protect those who accompany her to be able to advance. I really liked to discover the parents of the two girls and I admit that it is not really what I expected.

I struggled to get into the story but finally I had a good time with it. I do not know if there will be more one day but in any case it was a nice series to read.

Après avoir été enlevée dans le royaume fae de Never quand elle était bébé, Kismet s’est finalement échappée, et est arrivée à Duvall, au Texas, avec une terrible nouvelle : leur mère, Marlee, est prisonnière des faes Seelie.

Traverser l’océan pour combattre les faes n’est pas l’idée de Tammy Jo d’une escapade romantique, mais Bryn refuse de la laisser partir seule – tout comme sa tante Edie et son ex-mari Zach. Malheureusement, leur complot pour libérer Marlee est déjoué quand ils sont attrapés par la reine fae. Et la seule chance que la reine leur donne pour sauver la vie de Marlee est peut-être une quête impossible …

Avis : J’avais beaucoup apprécié les tomes précédents et j’ai été très heureuse de voir qu’Ada avait aussi quelques tomes en Français ! J’avais acheté ce dernier roman à sa sortie mais j’ai mis longtemps à me plonger dans la lecture. Donc bien sûr, j’avais oublié beaucoup d’évènements de l’histoire comme d’habitude…

Tammy Jo fait connaissance au début de l’histoire de sa sœur jumelle Kismet qui a été enlevée par les faes quand elle n’était encore qu’un bébé. La réunion est assez étonnante et j’étais impatiente d’en apprendre plus à son sujet. Mais c’est vrai que j’étais surprise de voir leurs différences et de voir à quel point elle était impulsive. Pourtant, c’est vrai que c’est assez touchant de voir Kismet comprendre qu’elle n’est plus seule en ce monde. Mais voilà, son arrivée annonce aussi de nouveaux changements. En effet, il semblerait que Marlee, la mère des jumelles se retrouve dans une situation compliquée dans le Never et Tammy Jo est bien déterminée à s’y rendre pour comprendre ce qu’il se passe exactement. Mais elle ne sera pas seule car Eddie, Bryn, mais aussi Zach, seront là pour l’accompagner dans ce nouveau périple.

J’ai beaucoup apprécié d’en voir plus du Never après en avoir tant entendu parler, de voir comment ce royaume était régi. Cependant, c’est vrai que comme souvent dans tous les romans, cet endroit n’est pas simple même s’il recèle des choses extraordinaires. Tammy Jo va devoir affronter quelques obstacles mais aussi protéger ceux qui l’accompagnent pour pouvoir avancer. J’ai beaucoup aimé découvrir les parents des deux jeunes filles et j’avoue que ce n’est pas vraiment ce à quoi je m’attendais.

J’ai eu du mal à rentrer dans l’histoire mais finalement j’ai passé un bon moment avec le récit. Je ne sais pas s’il y en aura plus un jour mais dans tous les cas c’était une série agréable à lire.

When Evangeline disappears under suspicious circumstances, Tammy Jo is determined to find out what happened. As she uncovers a secret more dangerous—and personal—than she could have imagined, she also discovers that, in both love and magic, you can’t stay neutral forever.

Review: I waited for the release of this novel for a long time and the re released of the previous volumes has allowed me to see this volume coming little by little. Of course, it was pre-ordered as soon as possible and I was eager to read it after seeing some glowing reviews about the story.

It’s been several years since the previous volume was released and I do not remember in detail everything that had happened before. However, we find our heroine Tammy Jo experiencing new problems. Oh yes, because there are many ones … Zach is back in town and is determined to recover her even if all that happened during his absence could change that. Bryn meanwhile remains determined to keep the young woman with him and to make her succumb by any manners. But while Tammy must choose between the two men in her life, a crucial choice indeed, other events will intervene completely upsetting her daily life. It seems that an invisible skeletal creature monitors her, a fae is trying to get something from her by all means and a young woman comes to her door asking her to be her friend. Evangeline is an unstable person who made ​​several psychiatric stays but still nice and innocent in all circumstances. She is fragile but strong at the same time and she remains determined in her choice whatever the others might try to say. This is an enigmatic young person and I’m sure we’ll see her soon in the rest of the story. Even Tammy Jo falls under her spell and decides to help her escape her family as she is saying that they want to kill her. But by that, she does not know in what she will embark. While Vangie mysteriously disappears, it seems that her history is far more important than they could have expected and we could in this way learn even more about Edie and her death.

Tammy is changing significantly over novels. Her fae side appears more clearly and she fears that Bryn or Zach will abandon her because of it. It was however very interesting to see the two sides of the young woman as well as her limits in extreme conditions. Moreover, whatever she does, she is always accompanied by people who are close to her and hope to keep her alive as long as possible. Things get quite complicated when we see the situations in which she ends up. She will have to finally choose the man she wants to stay with and it’s true that I fully agree with her choice. I am also curious to see more of their relationship in the next book.

In terms of the plot, I thought it was well put together but it’s true that some choices of the author seem pretty well found but some were some quite surreal even though it does not really pose a problem here. However, it is true that I am a little anxious for the future because I am afraid that all will be a little too much but it remains to be seen. In any case I had a great time with this novel and I am looking forward to read more because the end announces us major events in the next volume. This is a nice set mixing magic, fae, vampires, all accompanied by a good touch of humor.

Lorsqu’Evangeline disparaît dans des circonstances suspectes, Tammy Jo est déterminée à découvrir ce qui s’est passé. Comme elle découvre un secret plus dangereux – et personnel – qu’elle ne l’aurait pu imaginer, elle découvre également que, dans l’amour et la magie, vous ne pouvez pas rester neutre pour toujours.

Avis : J’attendais la sortie de ce roman depuis très longtemps et la réédition des tomes précédents m’a permis de voir ce tome se profiler petit à petit. Bien sûr, il a été précommandé dès que possible et j’ai été impatiente de lire après avoir vu quelques avis élogieux au sujet de l’histoire.

Cela faisant plusieurs années que le tome précédent était sorti, je ne me rappelais pas en détail tout ce qu’il s’était passé auparavant.  Nous retrouvons cependant notre héroïne Tammy Jo en proie à de nouveaux problèmes. Oh oui, parce qu’il y en a même plusieurs… Zach est de retour en ville et reste bien décidé à la récupérer même si tout ce qu’il s’est passé pendant son absence pourrait bien changer la donne. Bryn quant à lui reste déterminé à garder la jeune femme auprès de lui et à la faire succomber de n’importe quelle manière que ce soit. Mais alors que Tammy doit choisir entre les deux hommes de sa vie, un choix crucial d’ailleurs, d’autres événements vont intervenir bouleversant complètement son quotidien. Il semblerait qu’une créature squelettique invisible la surveille, de même qu’un fae qui essaie d’obtenir quelque chose d’elle par tous les moyens et une jeune femme se présente devant sa porte lui demandant d’être son amie. Evangeline est une personne instable ayant fait plusieurs séjours psychiatrique mais qui reste gentille et naïve en toutes circonstances. Elle est fragile mais forte à la fois et reste déterminée dans ses choix quoi que les autres essaient de dire. C’est une jeune personne énigmatique que je suis sûre que nous reverrons très vite dans la suite de l’histoire. En effet, même Tammy Jo tombe sous son charme et décide de l’aider à fuir sa famille qu’elle dit vouloir la tuer. Ceci dit en passant, elle ne sait pas dans quoi elle va s’embarquer. Alors que Vangie disparait mystérieusement, il semblerait que son histoire soit bien plus grande que l’on aurait pu le supposer et nous pourrions de ce fait en apprendre même plus sur Edie et sur sa mort.

Tammy évolue beaucoup au cours de romans. Son côté fae apparait de plus en plus clairement et elle craint que Bryn ou Zach l’abandonne à cause de cela. C’était cependant très intéressant de voir les deux facettes de la jeune femme de même que ses limites dans des conditions extrêmes. De plus, quoi qu’elle fasse, elle est toujours accompagnée par les personnes qui sont proches d’elle et qui espèrent la garder en vie le plus longtemps possible. Chose assez compliquée quand on voit les situations dans lesquelles elle se met toute seule. Elle va devoir enfin choisir l’homme avec qui elle veut rester et c’est vrai que je suis tout à fait d’accord avec son choix. Je suis d’ailleurs curieuse de voir la suite de leur relation dans le prochain tome.

Pour ce qui est de l’intrigue, j’ai trouvé qu’elle était bien ficelée mais c’est vrai que certains choix de l’auteur semblent assez bien trouvés et d’autres assez surréalistes même si cela ne pose pas vraiment de problèmes ici. Cependant, il est vrai que je suis un peu anxieuse pour la suite car j’ai peur que le tout fasse un peu trop mais cela reste à voir. Dans tous les cas j’ai passé un très bon moment avec ce roman et je suis impatiente d’en lire plus car la fin nous annonce de grands événements pour le prochain volume. C’est une jolie série mélangeant magie, fae, vampires, le tout accompagné d’une bonne touche d’humour.

As both worlds close in on them, Alissa knows that getting caught with Merrick could cost her everything she’s ever cared about, but giving him up proves harder than she ever imagined…

Review: I knew Kimberly Frost by her other series that I really enjoy: The Southern Witch series. It’s always a nice read as it’s a chick-lit/paranormal saga. I was therefore pretty curious to read another genre, here a paranormal romance series. Plus, have you seen this wonderful cover? Impossible to not like it. Mainly when we know it perfectly corresponds to the novel.
We discover in this first volume a very intriguing world, indeed, this one is shared by an impassable wall. We can find the world of the Etherlin, the one where the muses live, and another world where the vampires are. Two very different worlds that don’t mix up. The muses and the vampires can’t live together as the blood of these women is addictive for the bloodsuckers. However, a half vampire/human will come off the lot by his incredible control: Merrick, this cold blooded killer but also so mysterious, who will fall in love with the beautiful muse, Alissa.
What can I say about Merrick? He is the perfect bad boy whom everyone dreams about. He has a hard and impenetrable side, but this side is also counterbalanced by his sensibility and his love for Ally. It was funny to see him change like that when he is with her, him, this killer without any pity who will finally do everything she desires. It’s a pleasure from the start to discover this character and I was surprised by the Ally’s resistance. (I don’t think I could have done the same thing). We understand it, it’s therefore why we’re impressed by her acts.
Ally is a young muse who dreams to become THE muse of Etherlin, but it’s also a competition and a fight of everyday. We can only be impressed behind this strong woman, this woman who has to face so many things all the time and who can escape by the letters she can send to Merrick. Like the vampire, we really discover her nature all along the chapters, understanding that everyone thinks she is cold despite she keeps for herself all her feelings. As if her future as a muse wasn’t in danger, she also has to face many questions about the death of her mother, the state of his father that is worst and worst, and also the constant kidnapping threat. Something that Merrick is decided to change.
It’s a touching couple we can discover here. They are together very complementary and we hope from the start they could have a happy ending. Kimberly frost had a lot of wonderful ideas in this book and I was very happy to get into this incredible world. The writing style is fluid and the plot very interesting, we ask ourselves more and more questions to know to discover the truth about what is really going on. I confess I’m now curious to have the sequel as it’s about Lysanger and Cerise who only are two characters introduced to us, so it would be nice to learn more about them. A really nice start!

Etherlin, Tome 1

Résumé (traduction personnelle) : Dans l’étincelante communauté des Rocheuses du Colorado appelée Etherlin, les descendants des anciennes muses vivent derrière un mur qui les sépare de dangereuses créatures.

Alissa North est inspiration faite femme, elle n’aurait jamais dû rencontrer Merrick, un flic demi vampire, mais lorsqu’ils se rencontrent, la connexion entre eux est instantanée, et un flirt interdit naît. Il lui envoie des cadeaux secrets. Elle lui écrit des lettres.

Une amitié longue distance qui n’était pas sensée devenir plus. Mais quand elle est kidnappée et lancée dans son monde, tout change. Maintenant Alissa réalise qu’il est la seule personne en qui elle peut avoir confiance, et Merrick comprend qu’il fera tout pour la protéger, voir même risquer sa vie en traversant le mur.

Comme les deux mondes se rapprochent, Alissa sait qu’être prise avec Merrick pourrait coûter la vie de ceux qu’elle aime, mais l’abandonner est plus dur que ce qu’elle avait imaginé…

Avis : Je connaissais Kimberly Frost par son autre série que j’apprécie particulièrement : Southern Witch, une série assez légère dans le genre chick-lit paranormale. J’étais donc assez curieuse de pouvoir retrouver un autre type d’histoire, soit ici de la romance paranormale.  Puis, vous avez vu cette sublime couverture ? Impossible de ne pas succomber. Surtout qu’elle colle complètement au roman.
On découvre dans ce premier volume un monde vraiment intriguant, en effet, il est partagé en deux par un mur infranchissable. On peut ainsi trouver le monde des Etherlin, celui des muses et celui où les vampires vivent. Deux mondes totalement différents qui se côtoient très peu. Les muses et les vampires ne peuvent vivre ensemble, le sang de ces femmes étant addictif pour les suceurs de sang. Pourtant un vampire à moitié humain va se détacher du lot par son incroyable contrôle. Merrick ce tueur si mystérieux qui tombera sous le charme de la jolie muse Alissa.
Que dire de Merrick ? Il a tout du bad boy parfait dont tout le monde rêve. Il a un côté dur et impénétrable, mais ce côté est aussi contrebalancé par sa sensibilité et son amour pour Ally. C’était drôle de le voir fondre en sa présence, lui, ce tueur sans pitié et ainsi arriver à lui passer tout ce qu’elle désire. C’est un personnage qu’on prend plaisir à découvrir dans le livre et je suis étonnée par la résistance d’Ally au départ. (Je ne sais pas si j’aurais pu faire pareil). On le comprend, cependant, ce qui force notre admiration par conséquent.
Ally, elle, est une jeune muse qui rêve de devenir LA muse d’Etherlin, mais c’est une compétition et un combat de tous les jours. On ne peut être qu’admiratif envers cette jeune femme si forte, cette jeune femme qui doit faire face à tant de choses et qui finalement s’évade dans les lettres qu’elle envoie à Merrick. Tout comme pour le vampire, on découvre réellement son personnage tout au long des chapitres, comprenant que tous la croient de glace alors qu’elle garde en elle tous ses sentiments. Comme si son avenir en tant que muse n’était pas en danger elle doit aussi faire face aux questions sur la mort de sa mère, à l’état de son père qui se dégrade de plus en plus, mais aussi à la menace de kidnapping constante. Quelque chose que Merrick a d’ailleurs décidé de bien régler.
C’était un couple vraiment attendrissant à découvrir et à voir évoluer. Ils se complètent tous les deux parfaitement, et on espère dès le départ pour eux, une fin heureuse ensemble. Kimberly Frost a eu de très jolies idées dans ce livre et j’ai été contente de pouvoir m’immerger dans ce monde incroyable. L’écriture est fluide et l’intrigue intéressante, on se pose toujours plus de questions afin de découvrir la vérité sur ce qu’il se passe vraiment. J’avoue que je suis maintenant curieuse d’avoir le prochain tome se concentrant sur Lysander et Cerise qui sont deux personnages que l’on aborde et dont on espère en apprendre plus très vite. Un très joli début de série.
