Synopsis: No one is safe.

Review: Well … what about this novel? There are so many things that I did not expect at all and that deeply saddened me. Yet, I know that I can not talk about it. Be sure that I would love to, you would be surprised but you will never forgive me! You can see that I think of you too but arrrggghhh Sierra Dean, why ???? Why ???

The author had announced that this novel was the last one a long time ago and it is true that it perfectly closes the saga, especially as we can stay in the universe with the Genie McQueen’s spin-off series. Yet, I was very surprised to discover that we would have a volume 9 and I admit that after all that has happened here, I really wonder what she will offer us but I’m sure Sierra will surprise us!

What to say of the level of the story? I admit that the end of the previous volume had really made me curious. Why is that ? Did you see this cliffhanger? Terrible !!!! When our troupe finally returns to New York, the city is on fire … The apocalypse is here! And what a surprise to discover a gang of bikers necromancers, zombies, and especially a terrible rebellion in the city. Yes, Secret will have to rally all her friends and even find new people to try to save the city. Still, this is not the only problem she will have to handle because King Aubrey has decided to recover his due and the vampires want to judge her, whatever may happen.

It was a very good novel, full of action that allows us to find all the characters that we love despite that the losses are very difficult … I’m curious now for the sequel and the books on Genie!

Secret McQueen pensait qu’elle avait tout vu, mais c’était avant qu’elle, Desmond et Holden ne reviennent chez eux pour trouver New York en feu et les rues envahies par les morts-vivants. Maintenant, lancée dans une course contre la montre, elle doit découvrir qui est responsable de la libération de l’enfer sur Terre.

Pour cela, elle va avoir besoin d’une toute nouvelle équipe de gardes vampires pour aider à débusquer les méchants, qui s’avèrent être un gang qui fait ressembler The Sons of Anarchy à des enfants sur des tricycles.

Sa quête à travers la ville ramène de vieux amis et ennemis et rappelle à Secret une fois pour toutes pourquoi la miséricorde et le pardon ne sont pas toujours prudents. Des vies seront perdues, des sacrifices seront faits, et quand la poussière retombera, rien ne sera plus jamais comme avant.

N’ayant pas le temps de pleurer ses pertes, la seule question qui reste est de savoir si Secret peut survivre assez longtemps pour arrêter l’apocalypse … ou si c’est le défi qui finira par la noyer dans des rivières du sang des mort-vivants.

Attention: Le dernier livre de la série Secret McQueen a tout pour plaire: des baisers envoutants, des invités inattendus, et assez de moments tristes pour exiger une boîte entière de mouchoirs. Tu as été prévenu.

Avis : Eh ben… Que dire de ce roman ? Il y a tant de choses auxquelles je ne m’attendais pas du tout et qui m’ont profondément attristée. Pourtant, je sais que je ne peux pas vous en parler. Soyez-en sûrs, j’aimerais beaucoup, vous seriez surpris mais vous ne me le pardonneriez jamais ! Vous voyez je pense à vous aussi mais arrrggghhh Sierra Dean, pourquoi ???? Pourquoi ???

L’auteure avait annoncé que ce roman était le dernier il y a bien longtemps et c’est vrai qu’il clôture parfaitement la saga, surtout que nous pouvons rester dans l’univers avec la série spin off de Genie McQueen. Pourtant, j’étais très surprise de découvrir il y a peu qu’il y aurait un tome 9 et j’avoue qu’après tout ce qu’il s’est passé ici, je me demande vraiment ce qu’elle va nous proposer, mais je suis sûre que Sierra va nous surprendre !

Que dire au niveau de l’histoire ? J’avoue que la fin du tome précédent m’avait vraiment rendue curieuse. Pourquoi ? Avez-vous ce cliffhanger ? Terrible !!!! Quand notre troupe revient finalement à New York, la ville est en feu… L’apocalypse est là ! Et quelle surprise de découvrir un gang de bikers nécromanciens, des zombies, et surtout une rébellion terrible en ville. Oui, Secret va devoir rallier tous ses amis et même trouver de nouvelles personnes pour essayer de sauver la ville. Pourtant, ce n’est pas le seul problème qu’elle va devoir gérer car le roi Fey Aubrey a bien décidé de récupérer son dû et les vampires veulent la juger, quoi qu’il puisse se passer.

C’était un très bon roman, rempli d’action et qui nous permet de retrouver tous les personnages que l’on adore bien que les pertes soient très difficiles… En avant maintenant pour la suite et les livres sur Genie !!!

Synopsis: The Secret’s out, and heads will roll.

Ever since her near-death experience at the hands of the villainous Dr. Kesteral, Secret McQueen hasn’t been the same. As in damaged almost beyond repair. But as usual, Secret has no time to lick her wounds.

Armed to the fangs, she and Desmond embark on a whirlwind quest for revenge that takes them to the sewers of Paris to put an end to Alexandre Peyton. Instead, it’s almost the end of them, and before she can stop him, Peyton rips the veil off her deepest secret.

The devil’s not through muddling up the details, either. An eye-opening confab with Sig in the Big Apple leaves her wondering if she’s ever been in control of her own life at all. Plus, a cryptic postcard sends her racing back to her Manitoba hometown, fearing for her grandmere.

With the Council holding the power of life and death over her head, Secret’s circle of friends is shrinking, while the pool of enemies looking for payback is widening like a pool of her own blood.

Warning: Contains the least romantic Paris getaway in history and an unstoppable hybrid with an impossible choice to make between two men who’ve been to hell and back for her.

Review: I really like this Sierra Dean’s series but it’s true that I’m coming to the end of the Secret McQueen series. Moreover, this end comes much faster than expected as I now have only one novel left (she finally announced recently that we will have a book 9). I’m still happy that there is a spin off series on Genie, because I would have been sad to leave this universe.

Secret has gone through hell in the previous volume and now has to deal with the consequences. However, this trauma is far from easy to put aside and Secret no longer knows how to act. I really found that the author perfectly showed us the repercussions on all these events, that despite all that Secret has endured, she also has her limits and she reached them this time! It must be said that everything was really terrible … I was really sick to see her endure these flashbacks, these nightmares or her difficulty to be touched. But now, she does not have time to think about her life and this time she will have to face all these enemies, whether Peyton, Mercy or the revelation of her secret … Yes, she will face all what she tried to avoid before … I confess that I really did not expect so much action! But that’s not all because Secret will finally make her choice among all the men of her life. And I admit that even if the choice was already made from the beginning, this decision is painful, especially when we see the reaction of the other parties. However, I must say that I did not really expect such an end, such a turnaround and I am very curious to read the last volume to know exactly what it is. One thing is certain, Secret will not have time to rest!

It was as always a great novel and I loved following Secret, while seeing the difficulty of her emotional state. Sierra Dean has once again offered us an action-packed novel that finalizes many things started at the beginning of the series. Do not hesitate to get started if it’s not done yet!

Secret McQueen, Tome 7

Depuis son expérience de mort imminente aux mains du vilain Dr. Kesteral, Secret McQueen n’est plus la même. Elle est comme endommagée sans possibilité d’aller mieux. Mais comme d’habitude, Secret n’a pas le temps de lécher ses blessures.

Armée de ses crocs, elle et Desmond se lancent dans une quête de vengeance qui les mène aux égouts de Paris pour mettre un terme aux activités d’Alexandre Peyton. Au lieu de cela, c’est presque leur mort, et avant qu’elle ne puisse l’arrêter, Peyton déchire le voile de son plus profond secret.

Le diable n’est pas non plus en train de s’embrouiller dans les détails. Une confrontation révélatrice avec Sig dans la Grosse Pomme la force à se demande si elle a jamais contrôlé sa propre vie. De plus, une carte postale cryptique l’envoie courir dans sa ville natale du Manitoba, craignant pour sa grand-mère.

Avec le Conseil qui détient le pouvoir de vie et de mort sur sa tête, le cercle d’amis de Secret se rétrécit, tandis que le nombre d’ennemis s’agrandit comme une piscine de son propre sang.

Attention: Contient l’évasion parisienne la moins romantique de l’histoire et une hybride imparable avec un choix impossible à faire entre deux hommes qui ont été en enfer et en sont revenus pour elle.

Avis : J’aime vraiment beaucoup les romans de Sierra Dean mais c’est vrai que j’arrive bientôt à la fin de la série de Secret McQueen. D’ailleurs cette fin arrive bien plus vite que prévu comme il ne me reste maintenant qu’un seul roman (mais elle a annoncé récemment la sortie d’un neuvième tome). Je suis quand même contente qu’il existe par la suite une série spin off sur Genie, parce que j’aurais été triste d’en finir avec cet univers.

Secret a traversé l’enfer dans le tome précédent et elle doit en gérer maintenant les conséquences. Cependant, ce traumatisme est loin d’être facile à mettre de côté et Secret ne sait plus comment agir. J’ai vraiment trouvé ça bien que l’auteure nous montre les répercussions par rapport à tous ces évènements, que malgré tout ce que Secret a enduré, elle a aussi ses limites et elle les a atteintes cette fois-ci ! Il faut dire que tout était vraiment terrible… J’ai eu vraiment mal au cœur de la voir supporter ces flash-backs, ces cauchemars ou sa difficulté à être touchée. Mais voilà, elle n’a pas le temps de réfléchir à sa vie et elle va cette fois-ci devoir affronter tous ces ennemis, que ce soit Peyton, Mercy ou encore la révélation de son secret… Oui, elle va faire face à tout ce qu’elle essayait jusque-là d’éviter… J’avoue d’ailleurs que je ne m’attendais vraiment pas à tant d’action ! Mais ce n’est pas tout car Secret va finalement faire son choix entre tous les hommes de sa vie. Et j’avoue que même si le choix était déjà fait depuis le début, cette décision fait mal au cœur, surtout quand on voit la réaction des autres parties. Cependant, je dois dire que je ne m’attendais vraiment pas à une telle fin, un tel retournement de situation et je suis très curieuse de lire le dernier tome pour savoir ce qu’il en est exactement. Une chose est sûre, Secret n’aura pas le temps de se reposer !

C’était comme toujours un super roman et j’ai adoré suivre Secret, tout en suivant la difficulté de son état émotionnel. Sierra Dean nous a proposé une fois de plus un roman plein d’action qui finalise beaucoup de choses commencées au début de la série. N’hésitez pas à vous lancer si ce n’est pas encore fait !

Synopsis: Sometimes a secret goes to the grave. Sometimes Secret puts you there.

It’s been a hell of a year for Secret McQueen, and the last thing in the world she wants is to get caught up in werewolf drama. But when her former fiancé Lucas Rain shows up asking for her help, she knows there’s no easy way out.

After making it known she wants nothing to do with him, Secret agrees to help find Lucas’s wayward sister Kellen. After all, how much trouble could one socialite get into in the city that never sleeps?

Unless that socialite has been spirited away by fairies.

Trying to track down a missing girl in an alternate reality is just the start of Secret’s problems, though. Someone appears to be killing teenagers, and the MO looks eerily similar to something for which the half-fairy oracle, Calliope, might be responsible. Throw in a rogue wolf pack claiming allegiance to Secret’s mother, Mercy, and she’ll have miles to go before she rests.

Warning: This book contains a promise fulfilled, sex that’s out of this world, and more heartache than one hybrid assassin can handle.

Review: I really like this series but I read it as you savor a good wine, slowly, quietly never to come to the end. But then, with the closing of the publishing house, I rushed to buy all the paper copy and now I see them every day! How to resist? So I threw myself with pleasure in this fifth volume of the adventures of Secret McQueen.

Our heroine had a hard time managing since Lucas abandoned her at the foot of the altar and since Desmond left her life. She finds herself once again facing many problems. Luckily for her, Holden is always there to help her. Yet, this time, the problems will lead her into situations that are far more dangerous than she thought. In fact, Lucas comes to her home after 6 months of absence to order and threaten her to find her sister Kellen who disappeared. On top of that, a fae seems to kill in town and Secret thinks that her friend Calliope could be the one.

I really had a good time with this novel. As always an enormous amount of things happens and I confess that I appreciated very much to learn more about the fae world that we had only a little talked about. As always Secret will also have to manage her feelings, especially towards Holden and Desmond, which is really not easy. I was curious to see how the encounters between Secret and Lucas were going to happen, especially after all that happened. It’s easy to understand her feelings and how she’s hurt, but I confess that I was surprised that he did not try to do more. I confess he disappointed me on this one …

In any case, I once again had a great time with this new novel. Sierra Dean is extraordinary and her stories always carry me easily. I am looking forward to reading the next book !!!

Essayer de retrouver une fille disparue  dans une réalité alternative est tout simplement le début des problèmes pour Secret. Quelqu’un semble tuer des adolescents, et le mode opératoire est étrangement semblable à quelque chose dont l’oracle demi-fée, Calliope, pourrait être responsable. Jetez un paquet de loups rogues ayant fait allégeance à la mère de Secret, Mercy, et elle aura des kilomètres à parcourir avant de se reposer.

Avertissement: Ce livre contient une promesse accomplie, du sexe qui est hors de ce monde et plus de chagrin qu’un assassin hybride peut gérer.

Avis : J’aime vraiment beaucoup cette série mais je la lis comme on savoure un bon vin, doucement, tranquillement pour ne jamais arriver à la fin. Mais voilà, avec la fermeture de la maison d’édition US, je me suis précipitée pour tous les acheter en papier et je les vois maintenant tous les jours ! Comment résister ? Je me suis donc lancée avec plaisir dans ce cinquième tome des aventures de Secret McQueen.

Notre héroïne a beaucoup de peine à gérer depuis que Lucas l’a abandonnée au pied de l’autel et que Desmond a quitté sa vie. Elle se retrouve une fois de plus seule face à tous ses problèmes. Heureusement pour elle, Holden, lui, est toujours là pour l’assister. Pourtant, cette fois-ci, les problèmes vont la mener dans des situations bien plus dangereuses qu’elle ne le pensait. En effet, Lucas se présente chez elle après 6 mois d’absence pour lui ordonner et la menacer de retrouver sa sœur Kellen qui a disparu. En plus de cela, un fae semble tuer en ville et Secret pense que son amie Calliope pourrait y être pour quelque chose.

J’ai vraiment passé un bon moment dans ce roman. Il se passe comme toujours énormément de choses et j’avoue que j’ai beaucoup apprécié d’en apprendre plus sur le monde des faes que nous n’avions que peu abordé. Comme toujours Secret va aussi devoir gérer ses sentiments, notamment envers Holden et Desmond, ce qui n’est vraiment pas facile. J’étais curieuse de voir comment les rencontres entre Secret et Lucas allaient se passer, notamment après tout ce qu’il s’est passé. C’est facile de comprendre ses sentiments et la façon dont elle est blessée, mais j’avoue que j’étais surprise qu’il ne cherche pas à faire plus. J’avoue qu’il m’a déçue sur ce coup-là…

Dans tous les cas, j’ai encore une fois passé un très bon moment avec ce nouveau roman. Sierra Dean est extraordinaire et ses histoires nous emportent toujours facilement. Je suis impatiente de lire le prochain !!!

Oops, here I go astray from the start. Let’s go back to our pants, uh … story.

Secret arrives. Yes, you read it correctly, the little woman that is Secret lands in France, and with her, all her secrets (no word games). I like heroines who have the respondent, the grip, a real story, I like UF stories who have action, twists, with a zest of sexy.

All that characterizes this new series.

In the universe of Secret, nothing is simple: what she is, nor her allies, nor the universe in which she evolves. All is but one of the faces of a medal, and quite logically, there is another face, a duality that compresses the world and keeps her in a precarious balance. A duality that runs Secret on a tightrope.

I really loved this first volume which lays the foundations of this universe and suggests that it is even more complex than it seems. Secret does not have the language in her pocket, and is not really lucky either. It is not easy to remain discreet when one is by the force of things around so many persons. I do not want to reveal it to you for fear of spoiling the story, but I can only advise you to discover it.
