Synopsis: With a world-famous speaker at their university, Millie Morris and her four woefully single male colleagues make a pact that they’ll all find dates. Review: I really loved the previous novel of the two authors, so when I saw the release of this new one, I threw myself on it. If I didn’t love it as much as the previous one, I had another great time with the story.

Millie is friend with 4 boys she loves and who have become her family. But in these boys there is Reid, her best friend, the one who is always there for her. So when one night she sleeps with him, he actually sees her and vice versa, things change. However, it will not be so simple because they all decide to find a +1 by joining a dating site to accompany them to a big party. Not really knowing which way to dance, Millie will find herself in a delicate situation and she will have to make choices about what she really wants from Reid.

I found the idea quite nice, although not necessarily hyper original and I really enjoyed discovering this band of friends. The relationship between Millie and Reid is complicated and no one really knows which way to dance. It is a light reading and it allows us to have a good time with the characters we connect to easily, so what more would we like?

Avis : J’avais vraiment adoré le roman précédent des deux auteurs, aussi, quand j’ai vu la sortie de celui-ci je me suis jetée dessus. Si ça n’a pas été le coup de cœur que j’avais eu, j’ai passé une fois de plus un très bon moment avec l’histoire.

Millie est amie avec 4 garçons qu’elle adore et qui sont devenus sa famille. Mais dans ces garçons il y a Reid, son meilleur ami, celui qui est toujours là pour elle. Alors quand un soir elle couche avec lui, qu’il la voit réellement et inversement, les choses changent. Pourtant, ce ne sera pas si simple parce qu’ils décident tous ensemble de trouver en s’inscrivant sur un site de rencontre un +1 pour les accompagner à une grande soirée. Ne sachant pas vraiment sur quel pied danser, Millie va se retrouver dans une situation délicate et elle devra faire des choix sur ce qu’elle veut vraiment de Reid.

J’ai trouvé l’idée assez sympa, même si pas forcément hyper originale et j’ai beaucoup apprécié découvrir cette bande d’amis soudés. La relation entre Millie et Reid est compliquée et aucun ne sait vraiment sur quel pied danser. C’est une lecture légère et qui permet de passer un bon moment avec des personnages auxquels on s’attache facilement, alors que demander de plus ?

Review: I admit that after hearing a lot about the duo Christina Lauren, I confess that I was curious to embark on one of their book. The opportunity was thus presented with Dating You Hating You.

I had never read a book in the cinematographic world of agents but I admit that it is an interesting theme. Yet, from the beginning I admit that I had a little trouble hanging on to the story. I do not know if this is due to the environment chosen or to the style of the authors but I know that something left me a little behind. In any case, the story is very nice and I had a good time but it’s true that something was a bit missing for me.

We follow two colorful characters Evie and Carter alternately. Both agents, they know that a relationship between them could only be very complicated and nevertheless, a link attracts them irresistibly. Yet everything degrades when their agencies merge and they are both competing for the same job. It was very funny to see the two characters oppose each other by looking for all they could do to annoy the other. I must say that they were both really fun. They try to hate each other, to compete and it is very difficult, but they do not really manage to ignore their feelings.

We understand perfectly the difficulty and the ambiguity that exists between Evie and Carter but I confess that despite what they do, it was very touching to see them evolve together. We also realize the great inequality that can sometimes exist between men and women at work and as always it is rather sad …

It was a very nice reading and I had a good time with both characters. The authors mix humor, love and competition!

Qu’ils vivent une happy ending hollywoodienne ou une tragédie aux proportions épiques, le lecteur retrouve le style tapageur et hilarant de Christina Lauren au meilleur de sa forme.

Je n’avais jamais lu un livre dans l’univers des agents cinématographiques mais j’avoue que c’est un thème intéressant. Pourtant, dès le début j’avoue que j’ai eu un peu de mal à accrocher à l’histoire. Je ne sais pas si cela est dû à l’environnement choisi ou bien au style des auteurs mais je sais que quelque chose m’a laissée un peu en retrait. En soit l’histoire est très sympa et j’ai passé un bon moment mais c’est vrai qu’il m’a manqué un petit plus.

Nous suivons alternativement Evie et Carter deux personnages hauts en couleur. Tous deux agents, ils savent qu’une relation entre eux ne pourrait qu’être très compliquée et malgré tout, un lien les attire irrésistiblement. Pourtant, tout se dégrade quand leurs agences fusionnent et qu’ils soient mis tous deux en compétition. C’était très drôle de voir les deux personnages s’opposer en cherchant tout ce qu’ils pouvaient faire pour embêter l’autre. Je dois dire qu’ils étaient vraiment très amusants tous les deux. Ils essaient de se détester, d’être en compétition et c’est très difficile mais ils n’arrivent pas vraiment à passer outre leurs sentiments.

On comprend parfaitement la difficulté et l’ambiguïté qui existe entre Evie et Carter mais j’avoue que malgré les coups fourrés, c’était très touchant de les voir évoluer tous les deux. On se rend aussi compte de la grande inégalité qu’il peut parfois y avoir entre les hommes et les femmes au travail et comme toujours c’est assez triste…

C’était une lecture bien sympathique et j’ai passé un bon moment avec les deux personnages. Les auteurs mélangent humour, amour et compétition !
