Review: I always look forward to Christina Hovland’s novels and I couldn’t wait to read Irina and Knox’s story.

Our two heroes need each other. Why is that? Because one’s reputation is terrible and the other’s career is at a standstill. So what to do? Knox’s publicist proposes a fake wedding to solve all their problems. One thing is sure: it works, and even very well for Irina. She doesn’t have to go through with the wedding, she finally gets everything she’s ever wanted. But when feelings get mixed in with this fake relationship, everything becomes more “real”.

This was an enjoyable romance that I had a great time with. It was a real pleasure to follow both characters and see them develop feelings for each other. A series that I recommend!

Jeremy Dillion, alias Knox, n’a pas l’intention de se marier. Hors de question ! Ses parents ont divorcé quand il était jeune et les seuls éléments stables de sa vie sont les membres de son groupe.  Mais tous ont trouvé leur moitié, et Know a l’impression d’être un loup solitaire. Mais quand même, une vraie relation ? Non. Beurk.

Irina Carmichael est prête pour les feux des projecteurs. Le problème, c’est que personne ne la regarde, car elle ne rentre pas dans le moule créé pour les starlettes d’Hollywood. Ses hanches sont trop larges, son nez trop pointu et ses lèvres trop épaisses. Mais elle est prête à sortir de l’ombre pour se retrouver sous les feux de la rampe.

Lorsque Knox se fait démolir par les tabloïds, son publiciste soumet à Irina l’idée d’un mariage pour sauver son image. La pub ne peut pas faire de mal, alors Irina accepte en attendant qu’une meilleure offre arrive et qu’elle n’ait plus besoin de cet arrangement. Malheureusement, Knox a enfreint la première règle d’un faux mariage : tomber amoureux. Mais peut-il gérer une vraie relation ? Et est-elle prête à arrêter de faire semblant ?

Avis : Je suis toujours impatiente de découvrir les romans de Christina Hovland et j’avais hâte de lire l’histoire d’Irina et Knox.

Nos deux héros ont besoin l’un de l’autre. Pourquoi ? Parce que la réputation de l’un est terrible et la carrière de l’autre est au point mort. Comment faire ? Le publiciste de Knox lui propose un faux mariage pour résoudre tous leurs problèmes. Une chose est sûre : ça fonctionne, et même très bien pour Irina. Elle n’a donc plus besoin d’aller jusqu’au mariage, elle obtient enfin tout ce qu’elle a toujours voulu. Mais quand les sentiments se mêlent à cette fausse relation, tout devient plus « vrai ».

C’était une romance agréable, avec laquelle j’ai passé un très bon moment. C’était un réel plaisir de suivre les deux personnages et de les voir développer des sentiments l’un pour l’autre. Une série que je conseille !

Résumé : Blonde comme les blés et belle à se pâmer, l’excentrique et sexy Julie Bergdorf, richissime héritière des magasins de luxe du même nom, a vraiment tout pour plaire. Quotidiennement entourée d’une meute d’admiratrices, cible privilégiée des magazines people et déesse incontestée des boîtes de nuit fashion et autres restaurants huppés, la lolita de la mode règne en maîtresse absolue sur la toute-puissante jet-set new-yorkaise. Seul hic, mademoiselle est célibataire. Et dans les quartiers hype où le chic du chic consiste à se pavaner au bras de son fiancé, cette situation relève de l’impardonnable faute de goût.
Lancée à l’assaut du MP (Mari Potentiel), la Princesse de Park Avenue saura-t-elle trouver chaussure à son pied ?

Avis : J’avais le roman en anglais et la couverture me faisait penser à une romance historique. D’ailleurs le début et les codes m’y ont fait pensé pendant longtemps… Enfin jusqu’à ce que l’héroïne parle de téléphone portable. Oui, bon là, j’ai compris que ce n’était pas ce que je croyais ! Pas du tout !

Le personnage principal n’a pas de nom, elle est désignée par « moi », mais on va la suivre tout au long du roman dans sa vie pleine de paillettes. Mais voilà, Moi n’a pas de chance avec les hommes et si Julie, sa meilleure amie richissime, est toujours là pour elle, elle n’en fait qu’à sa tête.

Je pensais qu’à force, Moi se rendrait compte de ses actes et arrêterait de se comporter comme une gamine, mais raté, il va lui falloir beaucoup de temps avant de comprendre ne serait-ce qu’un peu qu’elle agit mal.

C’était un roman correct, mais il y a mieux alors je ne recommande pas forcément.

Holiday Homecoming, Book 1

Synopsis: I can’t believe that I pulled my boss’s name for our company’s annual Secret Santa tradition…

As the devil incarnate, this infuriating, cocky bastard never gives us the holidays off, and he honestly expects us to be grateful for his generous alternative: The Office Party.

It’s a mandatory, all-expenses trip for two weeks at a surprise luxury resort—where we still have to work twelve to fifteen hours a day.

So, I put zero percent effort into his gift. I tear the tag off whatever my sister gifts me, add a five-dollar amazon gift card, and hand it off to him.

It’s not until my sister sends me a text that I realize how terrible of a decision that was.

Georgia: Why haven’t you sent me a ‘LOL’ about the brand-new vibrator I got you? I really do hope that you use your boss’s face as a muse, like my note says. 🙂

If that’s not bad enough, this year’s “luxury trip” will be in my hometown–the place I’ve avoided for years. At the resort that my grandmother owns…

If the universe gets me out of this, I will never ‘regift’ anything ever again…

Review: Upon seeing the release of this new novel by Whitney G., I was immediately intrigued by the synopsis. How could I resist it? An insufferable boss, a Christmas party and a short novel? All with a nice touch of humor?

Savannah loves her job, but the person she hates as much as she loves is none other than her boss, and both are workaholics. Difficult as you can imagine. More than that, every year he organizes a Christmas vacation, right in the middle of the holidays, and everyone is required to attend. Our dear heroine tried everything to avoid it, in vain!

As I said, this is a very short novel, but I had a good time. It moves a little fast, but the story is humorous and I loved getting a glimpse of Savannah, Garrett and Georgia. All three are great and it was a pleasure to get to know them.

If you want to have a good time, I can’t recommend this novella enough.

Sick Boys, Book 1

Synopsis: Rule No. 3: Never let anyone think they can hurt you and get away with it.

I thought I’d seen and felt the worst of it, but there’s nothing worse than betrayal.

Corina knows who’s behind what happened to me and she may think hiding will keep her safe, but after everything that’s happened, nothing can keep her safe from me and the Sick Boys. She’s a pawn in all of this, but I’ll get that information even if it means I have to cut it out of her – piece by fucking piece.

This little charade is about to end. They thought they could drag me down into the dirt and grind my soul into the dust. What they failed to realize is that there’s nothing left of my soul and I don’t mind getting a little dirty if it means getting my revenge. I may have let her fool me once, but there’s no way in hell I’ll let her fool me twice.

After I’m done with her, I’m going after the big boys.

Review: I really liked the first two books and I was very intrigued by the last book about Avalon and Dean. Yes, because the author has written two more books on each of the other two Sick Boys and I am now very curious to read them!

Avalon wants revenge. This desire is stronger than anything and nothing will stop her. Her goal is to find Corina and Ace and make them pay. She also wants to discover the truth about her past that nobody seems to want to reveal to her. Dean’s father knows everything about her and yet, he refuses to tell her anything. Alone, they’ll have to find out what’s going on, as danger closes in and Avalon’s life hangs in the balance.

With the help of the Sick Boys, Avalon may get her way, and hopefully she’ll get away unscathed!

This was a very good volume, a nice conclusion for both of our characters. I enjoyed finding out the truth, finally getting to the bottom of the story, even if I thought it was a bit big and brought up more questions. That aside, I can only recommend you to get into the series.

The last chapter deals with Rylie’s story and I am very curious to know her a little better. She is so mysterious…
