It’s not until my sister sends me a text that I realize how terrible of a decision that was.

Georgia: Why haven’t you sent me a ‘LOL’ about the brand-new vibrator I got you? I really do hope that you use your boss’s face as a muse, like my note says. 🙂

If that’s not bad enough, this year’s “luxury trip” will be in my hometown–the place I’ve avoided for years. At the resort that my grandmother owns…

If the universe gets me out of this, I will never ‘regift’ anything ever again…

Review: Upon seeing the release of this new novel by Whitney G., I was immediately intrigued by the synopsis. How could I resist it? An insufferable boss, a Christmas party and a short novel? All with a nice touch of humor?

Savannah loves her job, but the person she hates as much as she loves is none other than her boss, and both are workaholics. Difficult as you can imagine. More than that, every year he organizes a Christmas vacation, right in the middle of the holidays, and everyone is required to attend. Our dear heroine tried everything to avoid it, in vain!

As I said, this is a very short novel, but I had a good time. It moves a little fast, but the story is humorous and I loved getting a glimpse of Savannah, Garrett and Georgia. All three are great and it was a pleasure to get to know them.

If you want to have a good time, I can’t recommend this novella enough.

Je n’arrive pas à croire que j’ai tiré au sort le nom de mon patron pour la loterie de Noël de l’entreprise…

C’est le diable incarné. Cet insupportable connard arrogant ne nous laisse jamais prendre de congés pour les fêtes de fin d’année, et il s’attend sincèrement à ce qu’on soit reconnaissants de la généreuse alternative qu’il nous impose : le séminaire de Noël.

Il s’agit d’un séjour obligatoire tous frais payés de deux semaines, dont la destination ne nous est révélée qu’au dernier moment… et durant lequel nous sommes censés travailler entre douze et quinze heures par jour.

Du coup, je ne fais pas le moindre effort pour son cadeau. Je recycle celui que ma sœur m’a offert, y ajoute un bon Amazon de cinq dollars et le donne à mon patron.
Ce n’est que lorsque je reçois un texto de ma sœur que je prends la mesure de mon erreur.

Georgia : Alors le vibromasseur que je t’ai offert ? Comme marqué sur la carte, j’espère vraiment que le visage de ton patron sera une source d’inspiration 🙂

Comme si cela ne suffisait pas, le « séjour de luxe » aura lieu dans mon village natal – un endroit que j’évite à tout prix depuis des années. Dans l’hôtel qui appartient à ma grand-mère…
Si l’Univers parvient à me sortir de ce pétrin, je jure de ne plus jamais recycler mes cadeaux de Noël…

Avis : En voyant la sortie de ce nouveau roman de Whitney G., j’ai tout de suite été intriguée par le résumé. Comment y résister ? Un patron insupportable, une soirée de Noël et un roman court ? Tout ça avec une bonne pointe de légèreté ?

Savannah adore son boulot, mais la personne qu’elle déteste autant qu’elle l’aime n’est personne d’autre que son patron, et les deux accros au travail. Difficile vous vous en doutez. Plus que ça, il organise chaque année des vacances pour Noël, en plein milieu des fêtes et tout le monde a l’obligation d’y assister. Notre chère héroïne, elle, a tout tenté pour y échapper, en vain !

Comme je le disais, c’est un roman très court, mais j’ai passé un bon moment. Tout va un peu vite, mais l’histoire est pleine d’humour et j’ai adoré avoir un aperçu de Savannah, Garrett ou encore Georgia. Ils sont tous les trois géniaux et c’était un plaisir de les découvrir.

Si vous voulez passer un bon moment, je ne peux que vous recommander cette novella.

Sick Boys, Book 1

Synopsis: Rule No. 3: Never let anyone think they can hurt you and get away with it.

I thought I’d seen and felt the worst of it, but there’s nothing worse than betrayal.

Corina knows who’s behind what happened to me and she may think hiding will keep her safe, but after everything that’s happened, nothing can keep her safe from me and the Sick Boys. She’s a pawn in all of this, but I’ll get that information even if it means I have to cut it out of her – piece by fucking piece.

This little charade is about to end. They thought they could drag me down into the dirt and grind my soul into the dust. What they failed to realize is that there’s nothing left of my soul and I don’t mind getting a little dirty if it means getting my revenge. I may have let her fool me once, but there’s no way in hell I’ll let her fool me twice.

After I’m done with her, I’m going after the big boys.

Review: I really liked the first two books and I was very intrigued by the last book about Avalon and Dean. Yes, because the author has written two more books on each of the other two Sick Boys and I am now very curious to read them!

Avalon wants revenge. This desire is stronger than anything and nothing will stop her. Her goal is to find Corina and Ace and make them pay. She also wants to discover the truth about her past that nobody seems to want to reveal to her. Dean’s father knows everything about her and yet, he refuses to tell her anything. Alone, they’ll have to find out what’s going on, as danger closes in and Avalon’s life hangs in the balance.

With the help of the Sick Boys, Avalon may get her way, and hopefully she’ll get away unscathed!

This was a very good volume, a nice conclusion for both of our characters. I enjoyed finding out the truth, finally getting to the bottom of the story, even if I thought it was a bit big and brought up more questions. That aside, I can only recommend you to get into the series.

The last chapter deals with Rylie’s story and I am very curious to know her a little better. She is so mysterious…

Sick Boys, Tome 1

Règle n°3 : Ne laissez jamais quelqu’un penser qu’il peut vous faire du mal et s’en sortir.

Je pensais avoir vu et ressenti le pire, mais il n’y a rien de pire que la trahison.

Corina sait qui est derrière ce qui m’est arrivé et elle pense peut-être que se cacher la protégera, mais après tout ce qui s’est passé, rien ne peut la protéger de moi et des Sick Boys. Elle n’est qu’un pion dans tout ça, mais j’obtiendrai cette information, même si je dois la lui arracher, morceau par morceau.

Cette petite mascarade est sur le point de se terminer. Ils pensaient qu’ils pouvaient me traîner dans la boue et broyer mon âme dans la poussière. Ce qu’ils n’ont pas compris, c’est qu’il ne reste rien de mon âme et que ça ne me dérange pas de me salir les mains, si ça me permet de me venger. Je l’ai peut-être laissée me tromper une fois, mais il n’y a aucune chance que je la laisse me tromper deux fois.

Quand j’en aurai fini avec elle, je m’attaquerai aux autres.

Avis: J’avais beaucoup aimé les deux premiers tomes et j’étais très intriguée par le dernier tome sur Avalon et Dean. Oui, parce que l’auteure a écrit deux tomes de plus sur chacun des deux autres Sick Boys et je suis, à présent, très curieuse de les lire !

Avalon veut se venger. Ce désir est plus fort que tout et rien ne l’arrêtera. Son objectif : retrouver Corina et Ace et les faire payer. Elle veut aussi découvrir la vérité sur son passé que personne ne semble vouloir lui dévoiler. Le père de Dean sait tout d’elle et pourtant, il refuse de lui raconter quoi que ce soit. Seuls, ils vont devoir découvrir ce qui se passe, alors que le danger se rapproche et que la vie d’Avalon est sur le fil du rasoir.

Aidée par les Sick Boys, Avalon arrivera peut-être à ses fins, en espérant qu’elle s’en sortira indemne !

C’était un très bon tome, une jolie conclusion pour nos deux personnages. J’ai apprécié découvrir la vérité, connaitre enfin le fin mot de l’histoire, même si je trouve ça un peu gros et que ça m’a ameneé quelques questions supplémentaires. Ceci mis à part, je ne peux que vous recommander de vous lancer dans la série.

Le dernier chapitre aborde l’histoire de Rylie et je suis très curieuse de la connaître un peu mieux. Elle est tellement mystérieuse…

Review: I had this novel for years. I bought it after seeing nice reviews of this author without ever getting into it. Finally, I got into the story and I must say that I had a great time!

Lady Calpurnia Hartwell is twenty-eight, an advanced age for a woman who is not yet married.  She’s given up hope of finding her prince charming. Besides, she is considered a paragon of virtue by everyone in society. So when the biggest debauchee in town, the Marquis of Ralston, meets his hidden sister and is looking for someone to bring her into society, he sees in Calpurnia the perfect person to help him. Especially since she owes him a favor. But Callie is tired of being perfect, and while she’s determined to help Juliana, she’s also determined to go on adventures doing things only men are allowed to do. Not easy! Especially for someone like her, but she won’t let it get her down to achieve her goal!

This was a really fun novel and I loved following Calie and Ralston. The story takes a bit of a different turn from what you find in historical romance and I loved that! I’m quite curious now to find out the second and third volumes about Juliana and Nick. I’m sure I’ll have as good a time with these characters!

L’amour en 9 défis de Sarah MacLean

La Famille St John, Tome 1

Résumé : Gabriel, marquis de Ralston, vient d’apprendre l’existence de sa sœur bâtarde Juliana, qui arrive tout droit d’Italie. Pour lancer dans le beau monde cette jeune fille aux origines douteuses, il lui faut un chaperon exemplaire. Pourquoi pas lady Calpurnia Hartwell qui est considéré comme un parangon de vertu ? Elle sera garante de la réputation de Juliana.

Sauf que Calpurnia est en train de se rendre compte que sa vie l’ennuie profondément. Elle a même établi une liste de choses scandaleuses à faire avant de finir ses jours dans la peau d’une vieille fille flétrie. Et pour cela, elle compte bien sur Gabriel, le débauché le plus célèbre de Londres.

Avis : J’ai ce roman depuis des années. Je l’avais acheté après avoir vu de jolis avis sur cette auteure sans jamais me lancer. Finalement, je me suis enfin lancée dans l’histoire et je dois dire que j’ai passé un super moment !

Lady Calpurnia Hartwell a vingt-huit ans, un âge avancé pour une femme qui n’est pas encore mariée à cette époque.  Une vieille fille. Elle a perdu espoir de trouver son prince charmant. Et puis, elle est considérée comme un modèle de vertu par tous les gens de la société. Alors quand le plus grand débauché de la ville, le marquis de Ralston, fait la connaissance de sa sœur cachée et qu’il cherche quelqu’un pour la faire entrer en société, il voit en Calpurnia la personne parfaite pour l’aider. D’autant plus qu’elle lui doit une faveur. Mais voilà, Callie en a marre d’être parfaite et même si elle est décidée à aider Juliana, elle est aussi bien déterminée à se lancer dans des aventures en faisant des choses que seuls les hommes ont le droit de faire. Pas facile ! Surtout pour quelqu’un comme elle, mais elle ne se laissera pas démonter pour atteindre son objectif !

C’était un roman très sympa et j’ai adoré suivre Calie et Ralston. L’histoire prend une tournure un peu différente de ce qu’on retrouve en romance historique et j’ai adoré ça ! Je suis assez curieuse à présent de découvrir le second et troisième tome sur Juliana et Nick. Je suis sûre de passer un aussi bon moment avec ces personnages !

Review: I had a good time with the first volume and was curious to discover this sequel.

Kate thought she had a classic life, but everything changed the day she was almost killed by a mobster. Since then, he has been chasing her to finish the job and Kate’s life has become very complicated. She has to manage her anxieties, but also control her body when she is in the same room as her bodyguard, Mason, who is more than sexy. But he is also a notorious womanizer. But as trouble gets closer and Mason and Kate have to live together in an apartment, they will reveal themselves to each other and something tangible will appear between them.

This was a nice novel but I expected a little more rythm. Kate and Mason’s story is pretty cute and I had a good time. I’d say it’s somewhere between YA and NA, don’t worry, even though it’s about the mafia, the story isn’t really dark. You’re good to go!
