Review: I loved the first two volumes and I was impatient to discover the third. I thought it would be the last one, but is it really? That we finally would have the last word of the story but I was surprised to see that this was not the case. But I wonder if the author is preparing a fourth book or if finally the book ends on such an open end. But back to the beginning.

We find Emma once again, she is actually living with her children and her husband after saving him. Yet she still dreams of Arthur and it’s more and more difficult for her companion to bear it. He loves her but they also both know that the limit is almost here. So when her friends come back to ask her for help to save a pregnant friend, Emma doesn’t need more to leave … If only she didn’t have the unbearable ultimatum from her husband who told her that if she leaves, it won’t be necessary to come back, either for him or her daughters. It’s really terrible for her, but she can not abandon her friends and she therefore shares a heavy pound in her heart for this new adventure. But this is not all and soon Emma also learns that by leaving the Alexei’s camp, Arthur stayed behind, being tortured during all this time. It’s really sad to see all the things our heroine has to go through. She just wanted a normal life with her family, but nothing is ever simple. Love, revenge, and her thoughts are always on her way, whatever she does.

We have many events in this novel. We discover Emma full of doubts, trying to keep hope in all circumstances and yet it remains very difficult. By saving Arthur, she didn’t expect a broken and destroyed man. I’ve always had some fairly complex feelings towards Alexei throughout the novels. We come to appreciate him, then hate him and our feelings are constantly changing towards him… It’s the same in this book and I admit that I really struggled to decide about his fate. Despite his hatred for Arthur, we know that he really appreciates Emma, in his own way even if a little twisted. But each character will evolve, and understand many great revelations, which will also change their future.

I found that this novel was really eventful. We come to discover the weaknesses of this mom we continue to discover in these novels and it is true that we can only understand her loneliness, sadness and desires. Everything is always so hard for her… It was in any case once again a very good story that I enjoyed to discover. Everything is easy to read and it’s always fascinating to learn a little more about this new world. By cons as I said the end leaves me a bit puzzled if it ends up like that and if there are no other novels thereafter.

Une odyssée mystique, un amour obsédant …

Avis : J’ai adoré les deux premiers tomes et j’étais impatiente de pouvoir découvrir ce troisième. Je pensais que celui-ci serait le dernier, l’est-il ? Que nous aurions enfin le fin mot de l’histoire mais j’ai été surprise de voir que ce n’était pas le cas. Je me demande cependant si l’auteur nous prépare un quatrième tome ou si finalement le livre se termine sur une fin si ouverte. Mais revenons au début.

Nous retrouvons Emma qui une fois de plus vit avec ses enfants et son mari après l’avoir sauver. Pourtant elle ne rêve que d’Arthur et son compagnon a de plus en plus de mal à le supporter. Il l’aime mais ils savent aussi tous les deux que la limite est bientôt là. Alors quand ses amis reviennent pour lui demander de l’aider et sauver une amie enceinte, il n’en faut pas plus à Emma pour partir… Si ce n’est l’ultimatum insoutenable de son mari qui lui explique que si elle part, elle n’aura plus besoin de revenir, que ce soit pour lui ou ses filles. C’est vraiment terrible pour elle, mais elle ne peut pas non plus abandonner ses amis et part donc le cœur lourd dans une nouvelle aventure. Mais ce n’est pas tout et très vite, Emma apprend aussi qu’en quittant le camp d’Alexei, Arthur est resté derrière, se faisant torturer pendant tout ce temps. C’est vraiment triste de voir tout ce par quoi notre héroïne traverse. Elle voulait seulement une vie normale avec sa famille, mais rien n’est jamais simple. L’amour, la vengeance et ses pensées se retrouvent toujours sur son chemin, quoi qu’elle fasse.

Il se passe énormément de choses dans ce roman. On découvrira Emma en proie aux doutes, essayant de garder espoir en toutes circonstances et pourtant cela reste très difficile. En sauvant Arthur, elle ne pensait pas récupérer un homme brisé et complètement détruit. J’ai toujours eu des sentiments assez complexes envers Alexei tout au long de l’histoire. On arrive à l’apprécier, puis on le déteste et nos sentiments changent constamment… Il en va de même dans ce roman et j’avoue que j’ai vraiment du mal à statuer sur son sort. Malgré sa haine envers Arthur, on sait qu’il apprécie énormément Emma, à sa propre façon un peu tordue. Mais chaque personnage va évoluer, et saisir de grandes révélations, ce qui changera d’ailleurs leur futur.

J’ai trouvé que ce roman était vraiment riche en émotions. On arrive à découvrir les plus petites faiblesses de cette maman que l’on continue à découvrir au fil des romans et c’est vrai qu’on ne peut que comprendre sa solitude, sa tristesse et ses envies. Tout est toujours si difficile pour elle… C’était en tout cas encore une fois une très bonne histoire que j’ai pris plaisir à découvrir. Tout se lit facilement et c’est fascinant d’en apprendre toujours un peu plus sur ce nouveau monde. Par contre comme je le disais la fin me laisse un peu perplexe si cela finit vraiment ainsi et qu’il n’y ait pas d’autres romans par la suite.

Review: This series is really a great discovery for me. I fell in love with the first book and when I had the opportunity to read the second and third book in this trilogy, I admit that I did not hesitate. And I just loved this new story. I find it very interesting to read dystopias, but it is often easier to fall on good young adults ones in this genre than of good adults stories, but this one is really exciting.

The story takes us therefore some time after the end of the first volume. Emma has returned to Canada, to her family and she is now with her ​​husband and her two little girls. Everything should perfect for her, if only the presence of Arthur was not hovering in the mind of our heroine. She knows she has to put her family first and she can’t not just abandon them now that she has returned, but it is very difficult not to follow what her heart really wants. But when Beth, her older daughter, is kidnapped by raiders, it takes no more than this for this mother to go and look for her even if she knows that her husband can not help her in this adventure. Because of that, she goes alone looking for Beth, desperate to find her missing child while she could have died many times. And when she thinks that nothing could be more complicated, it seems that Arthur and some of her friends came for her, Arthur wants to win her back despite her stubbornness but he is also here to help her find her daughter despite her refusal to engage.

Emma has a very special relationship with these two men. In this ruined world, she did not think that one day she would find her husband again and has created an unbreakable bond with another man different from her husband, Arthur. But now she knows she can not leave her husband as he needs her as welll as her children. Haywood knows what happened in France, but he loves Emma and her daughters more than anything and he is determined to keep her with him. But Arthur is also in love with her and would do anything to get her back and bring her back in France. It is terrible to be Emma, to need to choose between these two different men who love her more than anything. But it’s not the only thing she has to think about and she knows she can not divorce or be away from her daughters. All this really broke my heart, we can see all the sacrifices she made to try to do the best and yet it is not easy. She always remains in doubt, and her opinion is constantly changing. I must say that the two men do not really help.

We can also discover a lot of revelations in the novel. Some nice surprises and I took a great pleasure in discovering everything. We also meet a lot of characters that we did not know and all are very intriguing. The plot itself is well done, we follow Emma in her mission to find her daughter, and this is really fraught with obstacles of all kinds. Now that I finished the book, I ‘m really looking forward to read the third and final book to find out what will happen in this world so different. If you like dystopias I really recommend this one by Traci L. Slatton as it is a great read.

Avis : Cette série est vraiment une grande découverte pour moi. J’étais tombée amoureuse du premier tome et quand j’ai eu l’opportunité de lire le deuxième et troisième tome de cette trilogie, j’avoue que je n’ai pas hésité. Ce nouveau roman a été un gros coup de cœur pour moi. Je trouve qu’il est très intéressant de lire des dystopies, mais il est souvent plus facile de tomber sur de bons young adultes dans ce genre que de bons adultes, mais celui-ci est vraiment passionnant.

On reprend donc un peu de temps après la fin du premier tome. Emma est rentrée au Canada, en famille maintenant qu’elle est avec son mari et ses deux petites filles. Tout devrait pouvoir se passer au mieux, si seulement la présence d’Arthur ne planait pas dans l’esprit de notre héroïne. Elle sait qu’elle doit faire passer sa famille d’abord et qu’il ne serait pas juste de les abandonner maintenant qu’elle les a retrouvé, mais c’est très difficile de ne pas suivre ce que son cœur désire réellement. Pourtant quand Beth, sa plus grande fille se fait enlever par des voleurs, il n’en faut pas plus à cette mère pour partir la chercher même si elle sait que son mari ne peut pas l’aider dans cette aventure. Elle part donc seule en quête de Beth, prête à tout pour la retrouver mais manquant un grand nombre de fois de mourir. Et quand elle pensait que rien ne pourrait être plus compliqué, il semble qu’Arthur et quelques-uns de ses amis soit venu pour elle, Arthur est bien sur là pour la reconquérir malgré son obstination mais aussi pour l’aider à retrouver sa fille, malgré son refus de les impliquer.

C’est une relation très spéciale qu’Emma a lié avec ces deux hommes. Dans ce monde en ruine, elle ne pensait pas qu’un jour elle retrouverait son mari et a donc créé un lien indestructible avec un autre homme que son mari : Arthur. Pourtant, à présent, elle sait qu’elle ne peut plus partir, son mari a besoin d’elle comme ses enfants. Il sait parfaitement ce qu’il s’est passé en France, mais il aime Emma et ses filles plus que tout et reste déterminé à la garder auprès de lui. Mais Arthur est lui aussi fou amoureux d’elle et ferait tout pour la récupérer et la ramener avec lui. C’est terrible de se retrouver à la place de la jeune femme, entre ces deux hommes si différèrents et qui l’aiment plus que tout. Mais il n’y a pas qu’elle à qui elle doit penser et elle sait qu’elle ne peut pas séparer ni se séparer de ses filles. Tout cela fait vraiment mal au cœur, on assiste à tous les sacrifices qu’elle réalise pour essayer de faire au mieux et pourtant ce n’est vraiment pas facile. Il subsiste constamment un doute, et son avis change constamment. Il faut dire que les deux hommes n’aident vraiment pas.

Il y a aussi de grandes révélations dans le roman. De jolies surprises et j’ai pris un très grand plaisir à découvrir le tout. On rencontre aussi un grand nombre de personnages que nous ne connaissions pas et tous sont vraiment très intrigants. L’intrigue est elle-même parfaitement réalisée, on suit Emma dans sa mission pour retrouver sa fille, et tout cela est vraiment semé d’embuches de toutes sortes. A présent que j’ai fini le livre, je suis vraiment impatiente de lire le troisième et dernier tome pour découvrir ce qu’il va se passer dans ce monde si différent des autres. Si vous aimez les dystopies je vous conseille vraiment celle de Traci L. Slatton qui est une vraie merveille.

Bolingbroke claims to be an art collector. Two weeks ago, he saw Robert Cambridge searching for a legendary lost Botticelli painting. Bolingbroke overheard a plot to pursue Robert, take the painting, and kill him. Bolingbroke knows that Laila has connections in the seedy art underworld; he wants Laila to help him find Robert and the painting. Time is short. The group pursuing Robert has unlimited resources. They have a week at most before the group murders her father.

Review: I was quite curious about the story after reading the synopsis. I didn’t know about the author, but the idea of ​​mixing vampire / art was indeed well found, obviously knowing that vampires are so very aware of everything that happened on painting levels.

In this story we follow Laila , a young artist who has decided to stop painting , her talent being only to copy master paintings. She is stuck in her thesis and is struggling to live with the death of her father. So when a man she did not know comes up and tells her that her father is in danger and to save him, he needs her and her relationships to regain a lost painting. With that, our heroine will have to enter into a world she did not know about.

Bolingbroke has always promised to protect the daughter of his friend, but when he meets Laila , he certainly falls under her spell. Yet he knows that it is completely forbidden to him. With him and Laila, we are in a race against the clock to find a missing painting. A painting with a terrible secret and it seems that everyone wants it. It was a good story and I was curious to see the relationship developed between Laila and Bolingbroke. It’s pretty rare to have two the characters who love each other but do not succumb to one another. Indeed, I loved this detail even if it is sometimes a little frustrating it’s true.

It was very interesting to follow this quest. Discovering the depths of artistic professions and thus discovering a little more about the old masters. Of course, you should also wonder how the vampires comes into play in this story? Well, they really want this canvas. Why is that? That was the big question! I admit that I was really intrigued throughout the story to understand why all these people were after the Botticelli, even ready to kill to get it. And I confess that I was surprised at the highest point when I learned the reason at the end of the story. A good novel, although I admit I would have liked to learn more.

Avis : J’étais assez curieuse de l’histoire après avoir lu le résumé. Je ne connaissais pas du tout l’auteur mais l’idée du mélange vampire/art était bien trouvée, sachant évidemment que les vampires sont alors très au courant de tout ce qu’il s’est passé niveau peintures.

Dans cette histoire, on suit Laila, une jeune artiste qui a décidé d’arrêter de peindre, son talent n’étant que de refaire des toiles de maîtres. Elle reste bloquée dans sa thèse et a du mal à vivre avec la disparition de son père. Aussi, quand un homme qu’elle ne connait pas se présente et lui annonce que son père est en danger et que pour le sauver il a besoin d’elle et de ses relations pour retrouver une toile perdue depuis des siècles, notre héroïne va se retrouver propulsée dans un monde qu’elle ne connaissait pas.

Bolingbroke a toujours promis de protéger la fille de son ami, mais quand il rencontre Laila, il tombe indubitablement sous son charme. Pourtant il sait que c’est complètement interdit pour lui. Avec lui et Laila, on se retrouve dans une course contre la montre pour trouver une peinture disparue. Une peinture portant un terrible secret et recherchée par de nombreuses personnes. C’était une bonne histoire et j’étais curieuse de voir évoluer la relation entre Laila et Bolingbroke. C’est assez rare que les auteurs aient des personnages qui s’aiment mais qui ne succombent pas l’un pour l’autre. Aussi j’ai beaucoup aimé ce détail même si c’est parfois un peu frustrant c’est vrai.

C’était vraiment très intéressant de suivre cette quête. Découvrant les bas-fonds de métiers de l’art et en découvrant ainsi un peu plus sur les tableaux de maîtres. Bien sûr, vous devez aussi vous demander comment les vampires entrent en compte dans toute cette histoire ? Eh bien, ils recherchent eux aussi le tableau. Pourquoi ? Alors ça c’était la grande question ! J’avoue que j’ai été vraiment intriguée tout au long de l’histoire à comprendre pourquoi toutes ces personnes étaient après le Botticelli, au point de tuer pour le récupérer. Et j’avoue que j’ai été surprise au plus haut point quand j’ai appris la raison à la fin de l’histoire. Une bonne idée, bien que j’avoue que j’aurais aimé en apprendre encore plus.

Review: I admit that I started the novel without too many ideas in mind. I did not know anything about the series but the cover immediately attracted me. I was a bit scared that the whole story would be a little too cliché with the end of the world, but it wasn’t the case at all and found a dystopian world more than interesting. Then it must be said that a novel set in France always really intrigues me .

Emma and her daughter were traveling in France when the mist came, something that can make someone crazy and kill everyone with whom they come into contact. However, mother and daughter have survived in this new world become so difficult. Besides, Emma has adopted during her progress some children she is trying to protect as much as she can. This little group is heterogeneous but in addition to this, since this Apocalypse, people have developed skills unusual and completely varying from one person to another. But when she meets Arthur, she knows she can’t continue like that and to advance and to save her children she is ready for anything, and if becoming the lover of this man can help, then there is not even a question to ask. She does not just expected to fall gradually in love with this man so different from the others. Yet the fact that her husband and her other daughter are in Canada is still in her mind. I loved Emma. She is a very brave young woman who does not hesitate to speak her mind despite the consequences. She decides from the outset to develop the camp and to change the habits of Arthur. I must say I was quite surprised to see how he bent to her demands. Gradually a very sweet relationship is created between them and I loved seeing this trend. Of course, Arthur is not aware of the past of our heroine and that makes her sometimes quite uncomfortable. Emma is struggling to accept her feelings throughout the story and tries to avoid them. But there is more and we quickly understand the Arthur’s secret with all his talks, but it takes a lot more time to our dear mother to accept the truth. Arthur knows what he wants and is determined to have no obstacles when his choice is decided. It was a very interesting to experience all the many facets of this character.

I enjoyed this new world with all its dangers and I admit that I was totally swept away by the Traci L. Slatton’s ideas. I am also more than curious to read more and find out the adventures of our dear Emma and her nice daughter.
